GAUGE:

Each block measures 11 inches square after blocking.
For a single size spread, about 72 x 105 inches including fringe, make 6 x 9 blocks.
For a double size spread, about 94 x 105 inches including fringe, make 8 x 9 blocks.

BLOCK … Starting at center, ch 8, join with sl st. 1st rnd: Ch 5; (tr in ring, ch 1) 15 times. Join with sl st to 4th ch of ch-5 (16 sps made). 2nd rnd: * 2 s c in next sp, s c in next tr. Repeat from * around, ending with s c in sl st. 3rd rnd: Sl st in next s c, ch 3, d c in next s c, * ch 2, skip 1 s c, d c in next 2 s c. FRINGE … Cut 12 strands of thread, each 11 inches long. Pull these strands through a space on spread, thus doubling strands; then, with the 24 strands, make a knot close to edge of spread, like a tassel. Continue in this manner, making a fringe in each corner and in every other sp around all edges. Trim ends evenly.
