Materials: Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Pearl Cotton, size 5, 12 balls of main color and 5 balls of a contrasting color.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 8.

When completed head rest measures about 20 x 11 inches, and each arm piece 9½ x 7 inches.

Head Rest. Starting at short side with main color, ch 75 to measure about 11½ inches. 1st row: Insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, draw loop through, * insert hook in next ch, draw loop through (3 loops on hook), thread over and draw through all 3 loops (1 group st made). Ch 1, insert hook in same place in which last loop of group st was pulled through, draw loop through. Repeat from * across (73 group sts made). Ch 2, turn. 2nd row: Draw out a loop in 2nd ch from hook, * skip 1 group st, draw out a loop in ch-1 of previous row (3 loops on hook), thread over and draw through all 3 loops, ch 1, draw out a loop in same ch-1 in which last loop was pulled through. Repeat from * across, ending row with group st. Ch 2, turn. Hereafter ** repeat 2nd row until piece measures ¾ inch. Break off. Attach contrasting color and continue for another 1½ inches. Break off. Attach main color and repeat from ** once more, always joining colors at same side where colors were joined previously. Break off. Attach main color and continue for 11 more inches. Break off. Attach contrasting color and work to correspond with opposite end. Break off.

Fringe: Cut 4 strands of main color, each 4 inches long. Double these strands, forming a loop. Pull loop through lower edge at corner and draw loose ends of fringe through this loop. Pull tight. Continue in this manner across one long side only, spacing fringe evenly and having color of fringe correspond with stripe of Head Rest.

Arm Pieces. With main color, ch 65 to measure about 9½ inches. Work in pattern as for Head Rest for ½ inch. Break off. Change to contrasting color and work for another inch. Break off. Change to main color and work for 4 more inches. Break off. Attach contrasting color and work to correspond with opposite side. Fringe as for Head Rest.
