Materials: Clark's O.N.T. Cronita, 4 balls, or Knit-Crochet, 9 balls, White or Ecru, for chair back and 2 arm pieces. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 4.

Note: In the directions 1 space refers to 1 double crochet, chain 2, 1 double crochet; in making a block, substitute 2 double crochet for the chain 2. To make the curved meshes that form the basket part of the design, make chain 3, 1 single crochet, chain 3.

To begin, chain 110. 1st row: begin in the 8th chain from hook, make a row of spaces (35 spaces). 2nd row: 35 spaces. 3rd row: 2 spaces, 1 block, 2 spaces, 5 blocks, 2 spaces, 1 block, 2 spaces, 5 blocks, 2 spaces, 1 block, 2 spaces, 5 blocks, 2 spaces, 1 block, 2 spaces. 4th row: 3 spaces, 2 blocks, 5 spaces, 2 blocks, 1 space, 2 blocks, 5 spaces, 2 blocks, 1 space, 2 blocks, 5 spaces, 2 blocks, 3 spaces. 5th row: 3 spaces, 1 block, 27 spaces, 1 block, 3 spaces. 6th row: 2 spaces, 1 block, 29 spaces, 1 block, 2 spaces.

7th row: 2 spaces, 1 block, 5 spaces, 2 blocks, 22 spaces, 1 block, 2 spaces. 8th row: 2 spaces, 1 block, 21 spaces, 1 block, make chain 3, skip 2 double crochet, put 1 single crochet in next double crochet, make chain 3, skip 2 double crochet, make 1 block, 4 spaces, 1 block, 2 spaces. 9th row: 2 spaces, 1 block, 4 spaces, 1 block, chain 5, block in block, 21 spaces, 1 block, 2 spaces. From this point it will be easy enough to follow the diagram. The design is worked from the side across and not from the bottom. Finish outer edge with single crochet and picot.
