Center Insertion. Starting at center, ch 138 (to measure about 10 inches). Turn and work s c in 26th ch from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 ch, s c in next ch, ch 12, skip 12 ch, s c in next ch (2 loops made). Repeat from * to end of ch (8 loops). Hereafter do not turn, but work in rnds as follows: 1st rnd: Ch 1, * s c in each of next 12 ch, ch 3, skip next 4 sts (s c, ch 2, s c). Repeat from * 6 more times. Then skip the next 4 sts, s c in each of next 25 ch (which is lower edge of jabot). Ch 3, and continue as before to end of rnd (which is neck edge). Join with a sl st. 2nd rnd: S c in ch-1, * s c in each of 12 s c, ch 2, skip ch-3, repeat from * 6 more times. Then s c in each of 25 s c, ** make 3 s c under all 5 rows of chains between loops, s c in each of 12 s c. Repeat from ** across. 3rd rnd: Ch 7 (to count as 1 half d c and ch 5), skip 1 s c, 1 half d c in next s c, * ch 5, skip 2 s c, 1 half d c in next s c, repeat from * once more, ** then ch 5, skip 2 s c, 1 d c in next s c working off 2 loops only, skip 1st s c of next loop, 1 d c in next loop working off 2 loops only, then thread over, draw through all loops on hook (thus working off 2 d c as 1 st). Ch 5, skip 2 s c, 1 half d c in next s c, ch 5, skip 2 s c, 1 half d c in next s c. Repeat from ** across next 5 loops (3 sps made over each loop). Then over end loop (the loop with 25 s c) make 8 sps, and continue on other side of loops to correspond. Join last ch 5 with sl st to 2nd ch of ch-7 first made. 4th rnd: S c in each st of ch-5, s c in each half d c and in each d c around. 5th rnd: S c in each s c around. 6th rnd: Ch 4, * skip 2 s c, 1 half d c in next s c, ch 2, repeat from * around. Join last ch 2 to 2nd ch of ch-4 first made. 7th rnd: S c in each st of ch-2 and in each half d c. Join. 8th rnd: S c in each s c around. Break off.

Edging. Edging is worked separately, then sewed to center. Starting at neck edge, ch 16, turn. 1st row: S c in 2nd ch from hook, s c in each ch across (15 s c). Ch 1, turn. 2nd and 3rd rows: S c in each s c across, ch 1, turn. 4th row: S c in each of first 3 s c, * ch 1, skip 1 s c, 1 half d c in next s c. Repeat from * across (6 sps made). Ch 5, turn. 5th row: S c in 2nd ch from hook and s c in each st across, picking up only the back loop of each st. There will be 4 more s c than in previous row of s c. Ch 1, turn. 6th and 7th rows: S c in each s c across, picking up both loops. Ch 1, turn. 8th row: Same as 4th row, but having 2 more sps than in previous row of sps. Ch 5, turn. 9th to 19th rows incl: Repeat the last 4 rows (5th to 8th rows), having 10 sps on the 12th row, and 12 sps on the 16th row. The 19th row, which completes a group of 5 ridges, will have 31 s c. Ch 1, turn. 20th row: Same as 4th row (6 sps only). Ch 1, turn. 21st row: S c in each st across (15 s c). Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd to 21st rows incl. until 7 groups of 5 ridges are made, ending with the 19th row of the 7th group. This s c ridge marks center of lower point of jabot. ** Next row: Same as 4th row, but having 12 sps. Ch 1, turn. Then work 3 rows of s c as before. Ch 1, turn. Following row: Same as 4th row, but having 10 sps. Ch 1, turn. Work 3 more rows of s c as before. Ch 1, turn. Next row: Same as 4th row, but having 8 sps. Ch 1, turn. Work 3 rows of s c as before. Ch 1, turn. Following row: Same of 4th row (6 sps). Ch 1, turn. Work 3 rows of s c as before. Ch 1, turn. Next row: Same as 4th row (6 sps). Ch 17, turn. Hereafter repeat from ** until 6 groups of 5 ridges are made to correspond with opposite side. Break off. Sew edging to center insertion, gathering it slightly around lower part and leaving upper edge of insertion free.

At end of 3rd row, ch 4, turn. 4th row: * Skip 1 s c, 1 half d c in next s c, ch 1, repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat these 4 rows 2 more times. Then work 3 more rows of s c (4 s c ridges). Break off. Sew jabot to center of neck band. Make a buttonloop at one side of neck band, and sew button on opposite side to correspond.
