Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero).

GAUGE: 6½ sc make 1 inch; 7 rnds make 1 inch.

BOTTOM … Starting at center, ch 2. 1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around. 3rd rnd: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc (an inc). Repeat from * around. 4th rnd: * Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. 5th rnd: Sc in each sc around, increasing 6 sc evenly spaced, and being careful in­creases do not fall over previous increases. Repeat 5th rnd until there are 132 sc on rnd. Next rnd: Sc in each sc around, increasing 4 sc evenly spaced. Join with a sl st in first sc.

SIDE 1st rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, sc in next 2 sts, * tr in next st, sc in next 3 sts allowing the tr to curve to front of work. Repeat from * around, ending with a sl st in first sc. 2nd rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, * tr in next st, sc in next 3 sts. Repeat from * around. Join. 3rd to 8th rnds inch Repeat first and 2nd rnds alternately 3 times more. 9th rnd: Sc in each st around. Join. 10th rnd: Sc in same st as sl st, sc in next st, thread over hook twice; in­sert hook under the first tr made 2 rnds below and draw loop through, (thread over and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice (raised tr made); make next raised tr around the next tr made 2 rnds below, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (joint raised tr made), * skip next sc on previous rnd, sc in next 3 sc, make joint raised tr hav­ing first tr in same place where last tr was made and next tr around next tr made 2 rnds below. Repeat from * around, making the 2nd tr of the last joint raised tr in same place where first tr was made, sc in next sc. Join with a sl st to first sc. 11th rnd: Repeat 9th rnd.
   12th rnd: Sc in same st where sl st was made, make raised joint tr by inserting the hook under both tr's of the last raised joint tr of 10th rnd and making next tr by inserting the hook underneath both tr's of next joint raised tr on same round and completing the tr, * skip next sc, sc in next 3 sc, raised joint tr having first tr in same place where last tr was made and next tr by inserting the hook underneath both tr's of next joint raised tr and completing the tr. Repeat from * around, ending with a sl st in first st. 13th rnd: Sc in each st around. Join. 14th rnd: Long sc in each st around—to make a long sc, sc at base of next sc. Join to first long sc and break off.
