Gloves to match the costume are a smart accessory. A new and novel way of making one pair of gloves do for many occasions is to crochet detachable gauntlet cuffs according to the directions given here. Simply sew on a hook and eye at the wrist line and complete your ensemble by putting on a pair of these gay cuffs with your summer cotton gloves. These cuffs should be pressed carefully over a damp cloth and may be starched slightly, if desired.
   Either Clark's O.N.T. Knitting & Crochet Cotton; or Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet Cotton Size 30 in Boilfast color to match the crocheted hat or scarf may be used. Directions are given for the Knitting & Crochet Cotton. If you select the Mercerized Crochet, use a steel crochet hook No. 5 or 6, and increase the number of stitches in the foundation ch to correspond to the wrist measurement and likewise increase the number of motifs made.

Materials: Clark's O.N.T. Knitting & Crochet Cotton, portion of ball to match crocheted hat or scarf. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 3.

   To begin, ch 45. 1st row: 1 d c in 4th ch from hook. 1 d c in each of next 4 sts of foundation ch. * Ch 1, 1 d c in same st as last d c, 1 d c in each of next 11 sts, and repeat from * twice. Ch 1, 1 d c in same st as last d c, 1 d c in each of next 5 sts of foundation ch. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: 1 d c in each of next 5 d c of previous row, * 1 d c in sp, ch 1, 1 d c in same sp, 1 d c in each of next 12 d c, and repeat from * twice. 1 d c in sp, ch 1, 1 d c in same sp, 1 d c in each of next 6 d c. Ch 3, turn. 3rd to 10th rows incl: Continue making 1 d c in each d c and 2 d c with ch-1 between in sp, to increase. When 10 rows are completed, fasten off thread, and work 1 s c in each st all around the edge to finish.
