Place Mats measure 12 ½ x 17 inches.
Runner measures 12 ½ x 27 inches.

Materials:
J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen, 2 balls of White or Ecru and 1 ball of any color are sufficient for 2 place mats, each about 12 ½ x 17 inches, and a runner about 12 ½ x 27 inches.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 6 or 7.

Place Mat . . . With White, ch 144 to measure 16 ¼ inches.

1st row: Sc in 12th ch from hook, * ch 7, skip 3 ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across. Ch 10, turn.

2nd row: * Sc in center st of next ch-7 lop, ch 7. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 7, skip 3 sts of turning chain, sc in next ch. Ch 10, turn. Repeat 2nd row until 30 rows in all are made. Ch 7, turn.

Next row: * Sc in center st of next ch 7 loop, ch 3. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 3, skip 3 sts of turning chain, sc in next ch. Break off.

Border . . . 1st rnd: Attach color in center ch st of any color, ch 1, work 3 sc in same place where thread was attached, sc in each ch and in each sc around, making 3 sc in each corner. Join with sl st in 1st sc made.

2nd rnd: Sc in each sc around, making 3 sc in center sc of each corner. Join and break off.

3rd rnd: Attach White in any corner sc, ch 1, in same place where thread was attached make sc, ch 7 and sc; * ch 7, skip 3 sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * to next corner, in corner sc make sc, ch 7 and sc. Continue thus around. Join.

4th rnd: Sl st in 3 ch f corner loop, ** in corner loop make sc, ch 7 and sc; * ch 7, sc in center st of next ch-7 loop. Repeat from * to next corner loop. Repeat from ** around. Join and break off.

5th rnd: Attach color and work sl st in each ch st and in each sc of 4th rnd. Break off.

Bow . . . With color make a chain 40 inches long.

1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.

2nd row: Sc in each sc across. Break off. Make a bow of this piece. Pin mat out to measurements. Sew bow in place as illustrated.

Runner . . . With White, ch 100 to measure 11 ½ inches. Work same as Place mat until 68 rows are completed. Ch 7, turn and work last row of Place Mat. Now work Border same as Border of Place Mat.

Make 2 Bows (make chains 30 inches long) and sew at each end of Runner.

Starch, pin out to measurements and press.
