Edging and Insertion for Yellow Guest Towel Pattern

COATS & CLARK'S O.N.T. TATTING-CROCHET, Art. C.21, Size 70: 1 ball each of No. 1 White and No. 43 Dk. Yellow.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 14.
A yellow guest towel.

EDGING—Braid … Starting at narrow end with White, ch 8. 1st row: In 8th ch from hook make dc, ch 2 and dc. Ch 7, turn. 2nd row: In ch-2 sp make dc, ch 2 and dc. Ch 7, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece is slightly longer than edge of towel, having an un­even number of ch-7 loops on each side. Break off.

HEADING … Now work across long side as follows: 1st row: Attach Dk. Yellow to first ch-7 loop, sc in same place, * ch 3, tr in next sp, ch 3, sc in next loop. Repeat from * across. Break off.

SCALLOPED EDGE1st row: Work­ing along opposite side, attach Dk. Yellow to first ch-7 loop, sc in same place, * in next loop make (tr, ch 5, dc in top of last tr made) 4 times and tr; sc in next loop. Repeat from * across. Break off.

INSERTION … Work as for Edging, making Heading on both sides of Braid.
   Sew Edging to towel, pin insertion in place. Cut away material in back of insertion, leaving ⅛ inch for hem. Sew neatly in place.
