Materials: Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mer­cerized Crochet, size 80, 1 ball.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 13.
A handkerchief.

To begin, make a chain loosely to measure the length all around edges of handkerchief. 1st row: S c in 2nd ch from hook, s c in each ch across until row measures the length of one side of handkerchief. Then, for corner, make 3 s c. Make other 3 sides to correspond. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: S c in each of next 2 s c, * ch 3, skip 1 s c, tr in next s c, ch 3, skip 1 s c, s c in each of next 3 s c. Repeat from * across, mak­ing 6 s c at corners. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sl st across to ch-3 loop. * 4 s c in ch-3 loop, ch-3 p, s c in tr, 4 s c in next ch-3 loop, s c in 1st s c, ch-3 p, skip 1 s c, s c in next s c. Repeat from * across, making 3 p's in 6 s c-group at corners. Break off.
