Materials:

J.& P. Coats Tatting-Crochet, Size 70, Spanish Red (No. 126), Bright Nile Green (No. 26-B) and Dk. Yellow (No. 43) . . . Steel Crochet Hook No. 14.

Edging--First Flower . . .

Starting at center with Red, ch 12. Join with sl st to form ring.

First Petal . . . 1st row: Ch 3, 4 dc in ring. Ch 3, turn.

2nd row: Dc in first dc, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn.

3rd row: Skip first dc, dc in each dc across and in top of turning chain. Ch 1, turn.

4th row: (Sc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 1) 3 times; sc in top of turning chain. Break off.

Second Petal . . . Attach Red to ring, ch 3 and complete petal as before. Make 4 more petals in this manner.

Center . . . With Yellow, ch 6. Join with sl st to form ring. (Ch 5, sc in ring) 12 times. Break off.

Sew Center in place. Make necessary numbers of flowers.

Heading . . . 1st row: Attach Green to last st on any Petal of flower, ch 9, * dc in first st on last row of next petal, ch 9, sc in last st of same row, ch 3, sc in last st on last row of next petal, ch 9, dc in last st on same row, ch 9, sc in first st of last row on next petal, ch 3, sc in last st on any petal on next flower, ch 6, sl st in 3rd ch of ch 9 made, ch 3. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 9, sc in next petal. Turn.

2nd row: Ch 6, sl st in 6th ch of ch 9, ch 6, sc in same ch 9 loop, * ch 6, sc in next loop. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last ch 9 loop, ch 6, sc in 6th ch of ch 9 loop. Turn.

3rd row: Sl st in next 3 ch, * ch 6, sl st in 3rd ch from hook (picot made), ch 3, sc in next loop. Repeat from * across. Break off.

Insertion . . . Work as for Edging making Heading on both long sides.
