Carry All Pattern #4011

MATERIALS:

J. & P. COATS CROCHET CORD, 2 balls of dark color and 1 ball of light color.

Steel crochet hook No. 7.

A button.

GAUGE: 10 sts make 1 inch; 5 rows (1 pattern) make 1 inch.

FRONT ... With Dark, ch 66 to meas­ure 6½ inches. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (65 sts). Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Dc in back loop of each st across (65 sts, counting turning ch as 1 dc). Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in front loop of each st across, sc in top st of turning ch (65 sts). Ch 3, turn. 4th row: Same as 2nd row. Drop Dark, attach Light, ch 1, turn. 5th row: Same as 3rd row. Fasten off Light. 6th row: Pick up Dark and, working in the same direction as last row, make sc in front loop of each st across (65 sts). Ch 3, turn. Repeat 2nd to 6th rows incl 2 more times; then the 2nd to 5th rows once more. Fasten off both colors. With right side facing, work a row of sc all around edge with Light. Fasten off.

MIDDLE PIECE ... Work exactly as for Front.

BACK ... Work as for Front until there are 5 Light stripes. Continuing stripe pattern dec 1 st at both ends of each row until 45 sts remain. Fasten off. With right side facing, work a row of sc all around edge with Light. Fasten off.

FINISHING ... Sew one long and two short edges of front and middle piece together. Make a seam down cen­ter, forming 2 pockets. Sew same 3 edges to corresponding edges of back. With Light make a ch-5 loop in center of flap. Work sc over this ch and fasten off. Sew on button to correspond.
