MATERIALS REQUIRED:
3 oz. of white 3 ply yarn (or three ¾ oz. balls)—1 ball blue or pink 3 ply yarn, for trim—3 yds. ½" ribbon. No. 4 bone crochet hook.

YOKE—ch 50.
ROW 1: 1 dc in 4th. ch from hook—1 dc in each of next 7 ch—5 dc in next ch (shell)—1 dc in each of next 5 ch—5 in next ch—1 dc in each of next 16 ch—5 dc in next ch—1 dc in each of next 5 ch—5 dc in next—1 dc in each of next 8 ch, ch 3 turn.

ROW 2: dc in each dc of row 1—making 5 dc in center dc of each shell—ch 3 turn.
Repeat row 2—4 more times, making 6 rows in yoke—ch 1—turn.

BODY:
ROW 7: 1 sc in each dc to center of 1st. shell—ch 5 (underarm)—sc in center of next shell—leaving the shoulder sts.—sc in each dc across back to center of 3rd. shell—ch 5—sc in center of last shell—sc in each dc across front, ch 3 turn.

ROW 8: Skip 1 sc—*dc in next—ch 1—dc in same st (pattern)—skip 1 sc—repeat from* to underarm ch—make 3 patterns
across the ch—and continue in pattern across row ending with 1 dc in last sc of row 7—ch 3 turn.

ROW 9: * dc under ch 1—of last pattern ch 1—dc under same ch—repeat from* across row ending with dc in turning ch of row 8—ch 3—turn.
Repeat row 9—13 more times. Work 1 row of pattern around neck edge the same as for body.

EDGING: With color—starting at left bottom edge—*dc under the ch 1 of pattern—ch 1—dc under same ch—ch 1—dc under same ch—ch 1—repeat from* around entire jacket, making the shells at the top of each dc along front edges.

WITH WHITE—sc between first two shells—ch 3—*sc in top of shell—ch 3—sc between next 2 shells. Repeat from* around.

SLEEVES—Join yarn in center of underarm ch—and sc around armhole—st for st—join with sl st—ch 3—work in pattern as for body joining each rnd. with a sl st in 3rd. ch—until there are 8 rows for short sleeves or 16 rows for long sleeves.

Edge the same as for jacket—Run ribbon through the pattern sts around neck—underarm—and sleeves.
