SIZE 3-4 YEARS

MATERIALS REQUIRED
American Thread Company "Dawn" Shetland Floss.
White or Colors
9 Balls Pink or any Color desired
Bone Crochet Hook #1
6 small buttons for back of dress and 1½ yards ribbon.

DRESS

Ch 105 for neck of dress, s d c (short double crochet) in 6th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, s d c in next ch, repeat from * to end of row, ch 4, turn.
2nd Row. S d c in s d c of previous row, ch 1, s d c in next s d c, repeat to end of row, ch 4, turn.
3rd Row. S d c in s d c, * ch 2, s d c in next s d c, ch 1, s d c in next s d c, repeat from * to end of row, ch 4, turn.
4th Row. S d c in each s d c with 2 chs between, ch 4, turn.
5th Row. S d c in s d c, * ch 2, s d c in next s d c, ch 3, s d c in next s d c, repeat from * to end of row, ch 5, turn.
6th Row. S d c in each s d c with 3 chs between, ch 5, turn.
7th Row. S d c in s d c, ch 3, s d c in next s d c, ch 3, s d c in next s d c, ch 3, s d c in mesh, ch 3, s d c in next s d c, repeat to end of row, increasing in every 4th mesh, ch 5, turn.
8th Row. 3 d c in first mesh * ch 5, s c in next mesh, ch 5, 3 d c in next mesh, repeat from * across row, ch 5, turn.
9th Row. S c in 5 ch loop, ch 5, s c in next 5 ch loop, repeat to end of row ch 5, turn.
10th Row. 3 d c in loop, * ch 5, s c in next loop, ch 5, 3 d c in next loop, repeat from * 3 times, ch 5, s c in next loop, ch 5, s c in same loop, ch 5, 3 d c in next loop, * ch 5, s c in next loop, ch 5, 3 d c in next loop, repeat between * 3 times, increase in next loop, work 11 solid meshes across front, increase for shoulder, continue yoke allowing 5 solid meshes for shoulder and 5 solid meshes for back between increasing points.
11th Row. Work 5 ch loops across row.
12th, 14th & 18th Rows. Work solid mesh over each solid mesh and 1 s c with ch 5 between in each loop.
13th Row. Work 5 ch loops, increasing over each increasing point.
15th, 17th & 19th Rows. Same as 11th row.
16th Row. 3 d c over 3 d c, ch 5, s c in next loop, continue row, increasing over last increasing points and between each solid mesh over shoulder (6 increases over each shoulder).
20th Row. Work pattern to first increasing point, ch 14, skip 5 patterns and s c into next increasing point, continue across front to next increasing point, ch 14, skip 5 patterns, s c in next increasing point and finish row.
21st Row. Work loops to underarm ch, ch 5, skip 1 st, s c in next st, work 3 more loops on ch and continue across row.
22nd Row. Work pattern even.
23rd Row. Work 3 ch loops across row, ch 5, turn.
24th & 25th Rows. S d c in each s c with ch 3 between. Next row begins the skirt.
1st Row. Work 136 s c over meshes.
2nd Row. 1 s c in every other s c with 5 ch between. Work 14 more rows of pattern (2 rows form a pattern), join skirt and work 6 more rows even.
23rd Row. Increase after every 2nd group of d c and work 5 rows even.
29th Row. Increase in every other open section of pattern and work even until dress is desired length.
SLEEVES. Join Wool in 2nd loop from solid mesh at underarm, work groups of d c over groups of d c and s c in loops with ch 4 between.
2nd Row. Work a row of 4 ch loops increasing over last increasing points of shoulder. Repeat the last 2 rows 3 times, omitting the increases at shoulder. In the next row work to within the last 7 meshes, leave these free and turn. Continue pattern, work back and forth, working up one more mesh at underarm until meshes have been worked into and work 1 more row of pattern all around.
Next loop row, ch 2, s c in loop, repeat all around decreasing 6 times in row by working 2 loops as one. Work 2 more rows of 2 ch loops and finish with shell, 3 d c in loop, ch 1, 1 s c in next loop.
Finish opening at back with a row of s c and work loops for buttons. Trim with ribbon as illustrated.

BOLERO

FRONT. With White, ch 37 and work 36 s c on ch.
2nd Row. Ch 1, s c in 1st s c, * ch 2, skip 1 s c, s c in next s c, repeat from * to end of row.
3rd Row. Work 2 ch meshes, increasing at end of row, ch 2, 2 s c in last s c.
4th, 6th, 8th, 10th & 11th Rows. Even.
5th, 7th & 9th Rows. Same as 3rd row.
12th Row. Decrease 3 meshes at underarm.
13th, 15th, 17th & 19th Rows. Even.
14th, 16th, 18th & 20th Rows. Decrease 1 mesh at underarm and work 18 rows even.
39th, 41st & 43rd Rows. Decrease 1 mesh at front.
40th, 42nd, 44th to 49th Rows. Work even.
50th, 52nd, 54th & 56th Rows. Decrease 2 meshes for shoulder.
51st, 53rd & 55th Row. Decrease 1 mesh for shoulder, break yarn and work other front to correspond.
BACK. Ch 87, and work 86 s c on ch.
2nd Row. Ch 1, s c in 1st s c, * ch 2, skip 1 s c, s c in next s c, repeat from * to end of row, ending each row with 2 s c in last s c.
3rd Row. Ch 1, s c in first s c, * ch 2, s c in loop, repeat from * to end of row and work 7 rows even.
11th & 12th Rows. Decrease 3 meshes at end of row for underarm.
13th & 14th Rows. Decrease 1 mesh at end of row and work 1 row even.
16th to 19th Rows. Decrease 1 mesh at end of row and work 28 rows even.
48th Row. Work over 12 meshes, ch 1, turn.
49th, 51st, 53rd & 55th Rows. Decrease 2 meshes for shoulder.
50th, 52nd & 54th Rows. Decrease 1 mesh at shoulder, break yarn and work other side to correspond.
Sew shoulder and underarm seams. Work a row of s c around armholes and 4 rows of s c around entire bolero, increasing around front and decreasing at neck to keep work flat.

HAT

With White, ch 2 and work 8 s c in first st.
2nd Row. Ch 3, 1 s c in each s c.
3rd Row. Sl st to 3 ch loop, ch 2, 2 d c in loop, ch 3, turn work and s c over last 3 ch loop, * ch 5, turn work, 3 d c in next loop of previous row, ch 3, turn, s c in loop just made, repeat from * all around, join.
4th Row. Ch 3, s c in ch, ch 3, s c in s c over group of d c, repeat all around, join.
5th & 7th Rows. Same as 3rd row.
6th Row. Same as 4th row.
8th Row. Sl st to ch, ch 2, 2 d c in 5 ch loop, ch 3, turn, s c in ch, * ch 5, turn, 3 d c over next loop of previous row, ch 3, turn, s c over ch just made, repeat from * to end of row and repeat this row 6 times.
15th Row. 4 s c over each 5 ch loop.
16th Row. Ch 2, 2 d c in same space, skip 3 s c, s c in next s c, repeat from beginning all around and with Pink work 2 more rows of shells.
CORD. Ch 3, join and work rows of s c until cord is length desired, finish with tassels, tie in a 3 loop bow and attach to hat as illustrated.
