Monogram Towel Decorative Crochet Pattern TW358

MATERIALS:
J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Pearl Cotton, Size 5: 2 balls each of No. 124 Indian Pink and No. 12 Black, or
J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen: 1 ball each of No. 124 Indian Pink and No. 12 Black.
Milward's Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.
A green bath towel.

Make a sketch of letters desired 4½ inches high for monogram.

INITIAL ... Starting at long side with Indian Pink, make a chain slightly longer than strip desired. 1st row: Half dc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across. Break off. With Black make another strip in this manner.
   Pin sketch to towel. Sew Black strips in place over sketch. Sew Indian Pink strips along side of Black strips.

EDGING ... 1st row: With Black sc closely along edge of towel. Break off. 2nd row: Attach Indian Pink to first sc, sc in same place, * skip next 2 sc, 7 tr in next sc, skip next 2 sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Break off. 3rd row: Attach Black to first sc, sc in same place, sc in each st across. Break off. Make edging on opposite end of towel in same way.
