Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 10.
A matching pillow case.

Starting at narrow end, ch 8. 1st row: In 8th ch from hook make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc (shell made). Ch 7, turn. 2nd row: In sp of shell make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc (shell made over shell). Ch 7, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece is slightly longer than edge of pillow case, having a number of loops on each side divisible by 3. Break off. Sew narrow ends together.

HEADING … Attach thread to first loop made, sc in same loop, * ch 6, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. Break off.

EDGING 1st rnd: Attach thread to first loop on opposite side of Heading, sc in same loop, * ch 7, sc in next loop, ch 3, 9 tr in next loop, ch 3, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join. 2nd rnd: Sl st to center of first loop, sc in same loop, * ch 7, (tr in next tr, ch 1) 8 times; tr in next tr, ch 7, skip next sp, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join. 3rd rnd: Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same loop, * ch 7, (sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 2) 7 times; sc in next ch-1 sp, (ch 7, sc in next loop) twice. Repeat from * around. Join. 4th rnd: Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same loop, * ch 7, (5 dc in next ch-2 loop, drop loop from hook, insert hook in first dc, draw dropped loop through—pc st made—ch 2) 6 times; pc st in next ch-2 loop, (ch 7, sc in next loop) 3 times. Repeat from * around. Join. 5th rnd: Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same loop, * ch 7, (sc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2) 5 times; sc in next ch-2 sp, (ch 7, sc in next loop) 4 times. Repeat from * around. Join. 6th rnd: Sl st to center of next loop, * ch 7, (pc st in next ch-2 loop, ch 2) 4 times; pc st in next ch-2 loop, (ch 7, sc in next loop) 5 times. Repeat from * around. Join. Continue working in this manner, having 1 ch-2 loop less on each pineapple on every other rnd and 1 more ch-7 loop between pineapples on each rnd until 1 pc st remains. Next rnd: Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same loop, * ch 7, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Break off.
