Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "STAR" FAST HEAVY CROCHET MERCERIZED COTTON, Article 140
2  balls Ecru or color of your choice.
Steel crochet hook No. 0.

Gauge: 7 patterns = 2 inches; 5 rows = 1 inch.

RIGHT GLOVE: Back: Ch 48, s c in 2nd st from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 st of ch, s c in next st, repeat from * to end of ch (24 patterns), this is right side of glove, turn.

2nd Row. * Ch 1, s c in next s c (pattern), repeat from * across row ending last repeat with 2 s c in last s c (an in­crease at top of finger), turn.

3rd Row. Ch 1, skip 1 s c, s c in next s c (a decrease), * ch 1, s c in next s c, repeat from * across row, turn.

4th Row. Work 16 patterns, ch 19 for 3rd finger, turn.

5th Row. S c in 2nd st from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 st of ch, s c in next st, repeat from * 7 times, continue in pattern across row, turn.

6th Row. Same as 2nd row.

7th Row. Same as 3rd row.

8th Row. Work 16 patterns, ch 21 for 2nd finger, turn.

9th Row. S c in 2nd st from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 st of ch, s c in next st, repeat from * 8 times, continue in pattern across row, turn.

10th Row. Same as 2nd row.

11th Row. Same as 3rd row.

12th Row. Work 16 patterns, ch 19 for 1st finger, turn.

13th Row. Same as 5th row.

14th Row. Same as 2nd row.

15th Row. Same as 3rd row.

16th Row. Work in pattern across row, around each finger, working a sl st between fingers, and across opposite side to within 3 patterns, cut thread.

PALM OF GLOVE: Ch 48 and work 1st 8 rows same as back of glove, 1st row is wrong side of glove.

9th Row. S c in 2nd st from hook, work 9 patterns on ch, 8 patterns on palm, then ch 16 for thumb, 2 s c in 2nd st from hook, 7 patterns on thumb ch, 1 pattern in same s c worked on palm before making ch for thumb, 8 patterns down palm, turn.

10th Row. Work 18 patterns to top of thumb, 8 patterns on opposite side of thumb ch, 18 patterns to top of 2nd finger, working 2 s c in last s c, turn.

11th Row. Skip 1st s c, work 44 patterns across row working around entire thumb, turn.

12th Row. Work 34 patterns, ch 19 for 1st finger, turn.

13th Row. S c in 2nd st from hook, 8 patterns on ch, con­tinue in pattern to end of row, turn (43 patterns).

14th Row. Work in pattern across row working 2 s c in last s c (top of finger), turn.

15th Row. Skip 1st s c, work 25 patterns, fold thumb so that thumb is on wrong side of palm, working through both sides of thumb, insert hook in last s c worked and in next s c and work a sl st, work 1 pattern in each of the next 8 patterns working through 1 pattern on each side to join thumb, work in pattern to end of row. Turn thumb right side out.

16th Row. Same as 16th row of back of glove. Steam each section slightly before joining. Sew the 2 sections together on right side leaving an opening of 1 inch at outer edge.

With right side of glove toward you attach thread at opening, work 3 patterns on each side, 2 patterns in each corner, 17 patterns at cuff edge, join, cut thread.

LEFT GLOVE: Back: Work 15 rows same as for right back marking 1st row as wrong side of glove, cut thread.

16th Row. With wrong side of back of glove toward you, attach thread in 4th pattern at opposite side of starting ch, work in pattern to end of row, around each finger working a sl st between fingers and in pattern across opposite side, cut thread.

LEFT PALM: Work 15 rows same as for right palm, marking 1st row as right side of palm.

16th Row. With right side of palm toward you, work same as 16th row of left glove. Finish same as right glove.
