Bells Earrings Pattern #2644

MATERIALS

CLARK’S O.N.T. “BRILLIANT,” 1 ball of any self-shading or variegated color.
Steel crochet hook No. 10.
2 earring bases.

BELL ... Starting at top, ch 2. 1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join rnds. Hereafter work only in the back loop of each sc. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around. 3rd and 4th rnds incl: Sc in each sc around. 5th to 12th rnds incl: Sc in each sc around, increasing 3 sc in each rnd—to inc an sc, work 2 sc in same place. After 12th rnd is completed, sl st in next sc. Fasten off.

CLAPPER ... Starting at center, ch 2 and repeat 1st 3 rnds of bell. Fasten off, leaving a 15-inch length of thread. Thread a needle with this length of thread and sew outer edges together, stuffing piece with cotton before opening is closed. With remaining length of thread, ch 15 and sew top of ch (last ch) to inner side of top of bell.

BASE COVER ... Starting at center, ch 2. 1st and 2nd rnds: Same as for bell. 3rd rnd: Sc in each sc around, increasing 6 sc in rnd. 4th, 5th and 6th rnds: Sc in each sc around. Fasten off.

Cover metal base with this crocheted piece, sewing edges together on wrong side of base. Tack bell to edge of base, allowing it to hang free.
