MATERIALS: J. & P. COATS KNIT-CRO-SHEEN, 1 ball each of a light and dark color.

Milward's Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.
A bone ring.

This amount is sufficient for 2 pot holders.

Starting at center, with dark color, ch 5. Join with sl st. 1st rnd: Ch 1, 12 s c in ring. Do not join rnds. 2nd rnd: * S c in next 2 s c, ch 2. Repeat from * around. 3rd rnd: * Skip 1 s c, s c in next s c, 2 s c in ch-2 sp, ch 2. Repeat from * around. 4th rnd: * Skip 1 s c, s c in next 2 s c, 2 s c in ch-2 sp, ch 2. Repeat from * around. 5th rnd: Holding light color along top of previous rnd, and working over it to conceal it, * skip 1 s c of next s c-group, s c in each remaining s c of group, 2 s c in ch-2 sp, ch 1, drop dark color, draw a loop of light color through (thus completing the ch-2 ), skip 1 s c of next s c-group, then with light color (working over dark color in order to conceal it), work s c in each remaining s c of group, 2 s c in next ch-2 sp, ch 1, drop light color, draw through a loop of dark color, thus completing the ch-2. Repeat from * around, always working over unused color. Repeat the 5th rnd until piece measures 7 inches in diameter. Fasten off. Make another piece same as this. Place padding be­tween crocheted pieces (for padding see patternbook page), and sew edges neatly together. Sew on ring.
