Materials Required — AMERICAN THREAD COM­PANY "STAR" RUG YARN, ARTICLE 44
13-80 yd. Skeins Dk. Green.
5-80 yd. Skeins Lt. Green.
1-80 yd. Skein Black.
Steel Crochet Hook, size H.
Rug measures about 26 x 38 inches.

Rug. With Dk Green ch 71, 1 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each of the next 9 sts of ch, attach Lt Green and work 1 s c in each of the next 33 sts of ch carrying the Dk Green in back of work working over the Dk Green, with Dk Green work 1 s c in each of the next 27 sts of ch carrying the Lt Green in back of work and working over the Lt Green, ch 1, turn. When changing Color, always complete the last half of st with next Color. The yarn is carried underneath throughout. Continue working back and forth according to chart (112 rows), break Lt Green, turn. With Dk Green, 3 s c in 1st st, 1 s c in each of the next 68 sts, 3 s c in next st, (corner) working on long side work 1 s c in each row having 110 s c across long side, 3 s c in next corner, then work other 2 sides to correspond, join, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row. Working on wrong side of work, ** 1 loop st in each of the next 16 s c, (Loop st: wind yarn over index finger, insert hook in st, draw yarn through pulling yarn from under finger, drop loop from finger letting loop fall to right side of work and complete s c) * 1 s c in each of the next 14 s c, 1 loop st in each of the next 19 s c, repeat from *, 1 s c in each of the next 14 s c, 1 loop st in each of the next 16 s c, 3 loop sts in next st, (corner), * 1 loop st in each of the next 16 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 11 sc, repeat from *, 1 loop st in each of the next 16 s c, 3 loop sts in corner st, repeat from **, join.
3rd Row. Ch 1, 1 loop st in each of the next 16 loop sts, * 1 loop st in each of the next 2 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 10 s c, 1 loop st in each of the next 2 s c, 1 loop st in each of the next 19 loop sts, repeat from *, 1 loop st in each of the next 2 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 10 s c, 1 loop st in each of the next 2 s c, 1 loop st in each of the next 17 loop sts, 3 loop sts in next st, (corner) , 1 loop st in each of the next 17 loop sts, 1 loop st in next s c, 1 s c in each of the next 9 s c, 1 loop st in next s c and each of the next 16 loop sts, 1 loop st in next s c, 1 s c in each of the next 9 s c, 1 loop st in next s c and in each of the next 17 loop sts, 3 loop sts in next st, (corner) 1 loop st in next st, repeat from beginning, join.
4th Row. Ch 1, work 1 loop st in each loop st and 1 loop st in each of the 1st 2 and last 2 sts of each s c section hav­ing 6 s c between loop st sections on long sides and 5 s c between loop st sections on short side and working 3 loop sts in center st at each corner.
5th Row. Same as last row but having 2 sts between loop st sections on long sides and 1 s c between loop st sections on short sides, join.
6th, 7th, 8th and 9th Rows. 1 loop st in each st working 3 loop sts in center st at each corner, break yarn. With Black and using a cross st, embroider fish through center according to diagram.

Toilet Seat Cover. With Lt Green, ch 27, turn and work 26 s c on ch, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row. 1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn and work back and forth according to chart.
Border. With Lt Green, work 1 s c in each s c of 1st row, 3 s c in each of the 2 corners and 1 s c in side of each row of s c around shaped sides of cover, having 135 s c all around, break yarn.
Attach Dk Green and work 1 s c in each s c all around, do not increase in corners, break yarn. There should be 27 s c across straight side counting the center st at corners. Attach Dk Green in center st at corner and working on wrong side of cover and around the shaped sides, work 3 loop sts in same st, 1 loop st in each of the next 5 sts, 2 loop sts in next st, (an increase), 1 loop st in each of the next 7 sts, * 1 s c in each of the next 10 s c, 1 loop st in each of the next 6 s c, 2 loop sts in next st, 1 loop st in each of the next 7 sts, repeat from * 3 times, 2 loop sts in same space (corner) 1 loop st in each of the 25 sts across straight side, join.
Next Round. 3 loop sts in corner st, * 1 loop st in each loop st, 1 loop st in each of the next 2 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 6 s c, 1 loop st in each of the next 2 s c, repeat from * 3 times, increasing twice in each of the next 3 loop st sections around curved sides, 1 loop st in each loop st working 3 loop sts in corner st, 1 loop st in each loop st across straight side, join.
Next Round. Same as last round working 1 loop st in each of the 1st 2 and last 2 s c of s c section having 2 s c between loop st sections.
Next Round. 1 loop st in each st, increasing around curved sides as necessary to keep work flat and working 3 loop sts in center st at corners.
Next Round. Ch 1, turn and working on right side of cover, work 1 s c in each loop st working 3 s c in center st at the 2 corners.
Next Round. 1 s c in each s c around curved sides, de­creasing every 5th s c across straight edge, break yarn.
Next Row. Attach Dk Green at lower corner and working around shaped sides only, ch 3, skip 1 s c, s d c in next st, (S d c: yarn over needle, insert in st, pull through arid work off all loops at one time), * ch 1, skip 1 s c, s d c in next st, repeat from * to opposite corner, ch 3, turn.
Next Row. S d c in next s d c, * ch 1, s d c in next s d c, repeat from * around shaped sides only, break yarn. Crochet a ch about 1½ yds. long and lace through last row of meshes.
