MATERIALS
BERNAT SESAME (Germantown Weight) (2 oz. pull pouches) — 1 each Main Color (M C), Color A and Color B
1 BERNAT-Aero crochet hook Size K (Canadian Wool Crochet Hook No. 4)
OR ANY SIZE HOOK THAT WILL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW

GAUGE: 2 s c = 1 inch; 2 rounds = 1 inch

NOTE: Use 2 strands of yarn throughout.

Using 2 strands of M C, ch 2. Round 1: Work 6 s c in 2nd ch from hook. Put a marker in work to mark beg of rounds and carry marker up. Round 2: 2 s c in each s c — 12 sts. Round 3: * 1 s c in next s c, 2 s c in next s c, repeat from * around — 18 sts. Round 4: * 2 s c in next s c, 1 s c in next 2 s c, repeat from * around — 24 sts. Continue in this manner to inc 6 sts every round 3 times more, being sure that increases do not come directly over each other — 42 sts. Work even in s c on 42 sts for 9 rounds. Fasten off M C. STRAP AND TRIM: Using Color A, ch 20. SHORT ROW: S c in 2nd st of chain and in each remaining st; then working along last round of hat, work (1 s c in each of next 3 s c, 1 long s c in next s c of round below) 7 times, 1 s c in each of next 3 s c — 31 sts on hat. Fasten off Color A. Using Color B and starting at beg of strap, 1 d c in each st of strap and each st of last short row, working 3 d c in last st; then working along last round of M C, s c in next 11 sc, join with sl st. Fasten off Color B.

BUTTON: Using M C, work as for hat until first round is completed — 6 s c. Stuff with yarn, then s c around, skipping every other st until closed. Fasten off and sew in place, spreading sts apart on strap to form buttonhole.
