Approx. Size of Mat = 10 inches

Mat is worked with a double strand of thread throughout.

With Yellow ch 9, 2 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each of the next 6 sts of ch, 3 s c in end st, working on other side of ch, 1 s c in each of the next 6 sts, 1 s c in same space with 1 st s c, join in 1st s c.

2nd Round—Ch 1, 3 s c in same space, 1 s c in each of the next 8 s c, 3 s c in next s c, 1 s c in each of the next 8 s c, join in 1 st s c.

3rd Round—1 s c in each s c on sides and 2 s c in each of the 3 center s c at each end, join.

4th Round—1 s c in each s c on sides and 3 s c in center st at each end, join, drop Yellow. (When changing Color always complete last half of st with next Color).

5th Round—Attach White and work 2 s c in each of the 5 sts at each end and 1 s c in each s c on sides, drop White.

6th Round—With Yellow ch 3 (counts as 1 d c) and work 1 d c in each s c on sides and 3 d c in each of the 3 center sts at each end, join, break Yellow.

7th Round—With White 1 s c in each d c having 55 s c in this round, break White.

8th Row—Start petals: Attach Green in 6th st to the right side from center st at end, ch 3 (counts at 1 d c), d c in same space, * 1 d c in next s c, 2 d c in next s c, repeat from * 3 times, 1 d c in next s c (15 d c), ch 3, turn.

9th Row—1 d c in each d c, ch 3, turn.

10th Row—* 2 d c in next d c, 1 d c in next d c, repeat from * 6 times, ch 3, turn.

11th Row—Same as 9th row.

12th Row—* 2 d c in next d c, 1 d c in each of the next 2 d c, repeat from * across row, ch 3, turn.

13th Row—Same as 9th row

14th Row—* 2 d c in next st, 1 d c in each of the next 2 sts, repeat from * once, 2 d c in next st, 1 s d c in each of the next 5 sts (s d c: thread over hook, insert in st, pull through, thread over and work off all loops at one time), 1 s c in each of the next 3 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 5 sts, * 2 d c in next st, 1 d c in each of the next 2 sts, repeat from * once, 2 d c in next d c, 1 d c in next d c, ch 3, turn.

15th Row—Decrease in next 2 sts (to decrease: * thread over hook, insert in next st, pull through and work off 2 loops, repeat from *, thread over and work off 3 loops at one time), 1 d c in each of the next 9 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 4 sts, 1 s c in each of the next 3 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 4 sts, 1 d c in each remaining st decreasing 1 d c at end of row, ch 3, turn.

16th Row—Decrease in next 2 sts, 1 d c in each of the next 10 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 3 sts, 1 s c in next st, 1 s d c in each of the next 3 sts, 1 d c in each remaining st decreasing 1 st at end of row, ch 3, turn.

17th Row—Decrease in next 2 sts, 1 d c in each of the next 9 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 s c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 d c in each remaining st decreasing 1 st at end of row, break thread.

Skip 1 s c of 7th round, attach Green in next s c and work same as 1st petal.

Work 3 more petals in same manner.

EDGE—Attach Green at lower edge of petal and working around entire petal work 2 s c in each row on sides increasing a sufficient number of times at each corner to keep petal flat, 1 s c in s c between petals, work around all petals in same manner, break Green. Attach White and work 1 s c in each of the 1st 14 s c, 1 s d c in each of the next 3 sts, working in d c work 1 d c in each s c to within the 3 corner sts, 2 d c in each of the 3 corner sts, 1 d c in each s c across top of petal, 2 d c in each of the 3 corner sts, then work down opposite side to correspond, working a long s c between petals working down into the White row, finish each petal in same manner, join, break White. Sew lower edge of petals together along the 14 s c.
