Gauge: 5 sc = 1"

BAG—Rnd 1—With double strand T, starting at one end of bag base, work 3 sc in each hole. Join with sl st in 1st sc. Rnd 2—Ch 1, work sc in each sc around. Join. Rnd 3—Ch 1, 5 dc in same place as sl st, drop loop from hook, insert hook between ch-1 and first dc and draw dropped loop through, ch 1 tightly—pop­corn made—sc in next 2 sc, * ch 1, popcorn in next sc, sc in next 2 sc. Repeat from * around. Sl st in top of first pop­corn. Rnd 4—* Sc in popcorn, sc in each of next 2 sc. Repeat from * around. End off T, attach single strand of M. Next rnd—Inc evenly around to 108 sts. Work sc even to 1½" from T. End off M, attach double strand T and repeat rnds 2, 3 and 4. End off T. With single strand M work sc even for 1½". With T repeat rnds 2, 3 and 4 once more, then continue with M until piece is 5¾" from holes. Mark sc directly over center hole on each short side of bag. Work 7 sts beyond marked st. Sl st in next st.

CASINGS—Row 1—Ch 1, * through front loops only, sc in next 2 sc, draw up loop in each of next 2 sc, over and through 3 loops—dec made. Repeat from * 8 more times; sc in next 3 sc (30 sts). Ch 1, turn. Rows 2-6 incl—Through both loops sc in each sc. Ch 1, turn. Row 7—Working each st through both loops of row 6 and through ridge at back of row 1 (skipping every 4th st of ridge) sl st across to form casing. End off. Skip 15 sts and work casing on opposite side of bag.

Finishing—Holding rods on bag frame firmly, unscrew end, thus releasing rods. Insert rod in casing and mount in frame. Mount other casing on opposite side. Fold gussets to inside.
