Roman Stripe Band Purse Pattern #8105

Materials: Clark's O.N.T. Knit-Crochet or J. & P. Coats Crochet Cord, 1 ball each of 126 Spanish Red, 61-A Dark Ecru and 68 Skipper Blue. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 5.

Starting in the center with Red, make ch twice as long as desired finished length. 1st row: S c in 2nd ch from hook, s c in each of next 10 sts. * 2 s c in next st, s c in each of next 11 sts, skip 1 st, s c in each of next 11 sts, 2 s c in next, s c in each of next 11 sts. Repeat from * along ch for desired length. Sl st in next st of ch, ch 1, turn. (Cut off any ch's not used.)

2nd row: Work a row of s c's along other side of foundation ch, making 2 s c's in each of the ch-1's skipped in previous row, and skipping the st into which 2-s c's were worked in previous row. This gives the zig-zag effect. Fasten off and attach Ecru at beginning of last row.

3rd row: From here on, pick up back loop of sts only. S c in each st along sides, 2 s c in points, skip 1 st at the indentations on other side of foundation ch.

4th row: Attach Blue at beginning of last row, and work same as 3rd row. Repeat 3rd and 4th rows on other side of work.
