Ch 3, turn. 6th to 8th rows incl: Same as before, making 4 d c where 3 d c were made in previous rows. Ch 3, turn. 9th and 10th rows: Same as before, making 5 d c instead of 4 d c. Ch 3, turn. 11th and 12th rows: Same as before, making 6 d c instead of 5 d c. Ch 3, turn. Make other side of bag just like this and sew them together having the scallops match so as to emphasize the scallops. Line bag. Sew in slide fastener easing in fullness of bag at both ends.

Tab Fastener: Ch 45, turn. S c in 2nd ch from hook, s c in each of next 33 ch, skip next 9 ch, make s c in last ch, so as to form the buttonhole. S c over this buttonhole and up other side of ch. Ch 1, turn. Work 5 more rows of s c increasing 2 s c on each row on buttonhole end, and ch 1 to turn on blunt end.

Button. Ch 3. 1st rnd: 6 s c in 1st ch. 2nd rnd: 2 s c in each s c. 3rd rnd: * S c in next s c, 2 s c in next s c, repeat from * around. 4th rnd: S c in every other s c around. Stuff with cotton. Then repeat 4th rnd until button comes to a close. Sew blunt end of tab to center of bag, 1½ inches from top. Sew button to correspond on opposite side of bag. Sew across the two thicknesses of tab, just above slide fastener, thus making a loop.
