MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS KNIT-CRO-SHEEN, 10 balls of White or Ecru, or 16 balls of any color.

CLARK'S O.N.T. LUSTERSHEEN, 10 skeins of White or Ecru, or 13 skeins of any color.
MILWARD'S Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

GAUGE … 3 sps make 1¼ inches; 3 rows make 1¼ inches. Each block measures about 17 inches square. For a tablecloth about 54 inches square, make 3 x 3 blocks.

BLOCK … Starting at center, ch 13 and make tr in 13th ch from hook. 1st rnd: (Ch 7, tr in same place as last tr) twice. Ch 3, skip 3 ch, tr in next ch, ch 7, tr in same place as last tr, ch 3, skip 3 ch, tr in next ch, ch 7, tr in same place as last tr, ch 3, tr in next tr, ch 3, skip 3 ch, tr in next ch. 2nd rnd: Ch 11, tr in top of last tr, ch 3, tr at base of same tr, tr in next 3 ch, tr in next tr, ch 3. Skip 3 ch, * into next ch make tr, ch 7 and tr; ch 3, tr in next tr, tr in next 3 ch, tr in tr, ch 3, skip 3 ch. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3; sl st in 4th st of ch-11. 3rd rnd: Ch 4, tr in next 4 ch, * ch 7, tr in same place as last tr, tr in next 3 ch, tr in tr, tr in next 3 ch, tr in next tr (2 bls made); ch 3, skip 3 tr, tr in next tr (1 sp made). Make 2 bls. Repeat from * around, ending with tr in next 3 ch, sl st in 4th ch of ch-4.
   4th rnd: Ch 4, tr in next 4 tr, tr in next 4 ch, * ch 7, tr in same place as last tr, 2 bls, 3 sps, 2 bls. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, sl st in 4th ch of ch-4. Starting at 5th rnd, follow chart until block is completed (the first sp of 5th rnd is indicated by "X" on chart). Make 3 x 3 blocks. Sew blocks together on wrong side with neat over-and-over stitches.

EDGING … 1st rnd: Attach thread to one tr, ch 4 and work tr in each tr, and 3 tr in each sp around, making 4 tr, ch 7 and 4 tr at corners of cloth. Join with sl st. 2nd and 3rd rnds: Ch 4, tr in each tr around, making 4 tr, ch 7 and 4 tr in each corner. Fasten off.
