Materials: Clark's O.N.T. (9 boxes) or J. & P. Coats (8 boxes) Mercerized Crochet, size 30, White or Ecru; or Clark's Big Ball Mercerized Crochet, size 30, 30 balls. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 10 or 11.

Gauge: 1 pattern (10 d c and 5 sps) makes 1½ inches; 10 rows make 1½ inches.

When completed, table cloth measures about 2 yds. wide and 2½ yds. long.

To begin, make a chain to measure about 3 yds, turn. 1st row: D c in 4th ch from hook, d c in each ch st of foundation ch until 1156 d c (counting turning ch as 1 d c) are made. Ch 3, turn. (Cut away remainder of ch not used). 2nd row: D c in each of next 3 d c (1 bl), ch 2, skip 2 d c, d c in next d c. Ch 2, ** skip 2 d c, d c in each of next 10 d c, * ch 2, skip 2 d c, d c in next d c. Repeat from * 3 more times, ch 2, and repeat from ** across, ending row with 2 sps, 1 bl (47½ patterns in all). Ch 3, turn. 3rd to 6th rows incl: D c in d c and sp over sp. Ch 3, turn. 7th row: 1 bl, * ch 8, skip all sts until the 4th d c of next 10-d c group, d c in this 4th d c, d c in each of next 3 d c (1 bl), ch 8, skip remainder of 10-d c group and next 2 sps, d c in next d c, ch 2, d c in next d c (this sp is made over the center sp of 5-sp group of previous row), repeat from * across, ending row with 1 bl. Ch 3, turn. 8th, 9th, and 10th rows: D c in d c, ch 8 over ch-8, and sp over sp. Ch 3, turn. 11th row: D c in each of next 3 d c, ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next ch, ch 2, ** skip 2 ch, d c in each of next 3 ch, d c in each of next 4 d c, d c in each of next 3 ch, * ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next st, repeat from * 3 more times, ch 2, and repeat from ** across, ending row with 1 bl. Ch 3, turn. Repeat from beginning of 3rd row until work measures 2½ yds. from beginning. Then finish with a row of d c, making 1 d c in each st to correspond with the 1st row.
