Collar Points Pattern

MATERIALS.—1 ball Ardern's crochet cotton No. 20 (old ticket number) or No. 40 (new ticket number). Tatting shuttle.

MEASUREMENTS.—Depth 3½ ins.; width at top 3 ins.

Row 1.—Make a loop on fingers and work 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., close ring, r.w., sp. (J in.) loop on fingers, 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., close ring, * r.w., sp. loop on fingers, 4 ds., join to last p. of adjacent ring, 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., close ring, r.w., sp. loop on fingers, 4 ds., join to last p. of adjacent ring, 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., close ring, repeat from * until there are 10 rings in top line and 9 rings in bottom line. Break off thread.

Row 2.—Make a loop on finger and work 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., join to center p. of 2nd ring worked in 1st row, 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., close ring, * r.w., sp., loop on fingers, 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., close ring, r.w., sp. loop on fingers, 4 ds., join to last p. of adjacent ring, 4 ds., join to center p. of next ring of previous row, 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., close ring ; repeat from * until there are 9 rings on top line and 8 rings on bottom line. Break off thread.
Repeat 2nd row 3 times more, having one ring less in each line after each row.
Break off thread.

EDGING.
Tie shuttle and ball threads together.
With shuttle thread make a loop on fingers and work 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., join to first p. of first ring made, 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., close ring * r.w., ch. of 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., r.w., loop on fingers, 5 ds., join to next free p. at side of point, 5 ds., close ring, r.w., ch. of 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., r.w., loop on fingers, 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., join to next free p., 4 ds., 1 p., 4 ds., close ring ; repeat from * all round point. Break off thread. Make another point in the same way.

NECK EDGING.
Row 1.—Join thread in free p. at top of point, 1 dc. into same place, * 3 ch., 3 dc. into next p., repeat from * 10 times more, 5 ch., 1 dc. into first free p. of next point, * 3 ch., 1 dc. into next p., repeat from last * 10 times more, 1 ch., turn.
Row 2.—1 dc. into first dc., * 3 dc. into 3 ch., sp., 1 dc. into next dc., repeat from * 10 times more, 5 dc. over 5 ch., * 1 dc. into next dc., 3 dc. into next 3 ch., sp., repeat from last * 10 times more, 1 dc. into next dc. Break off thread. This row is used for sewing on to garment. Overcast all ends on wrong side with fine thread. Damp and press.
