Milward's steel crochet hook No. 11.

When completed, doily measures about 7 inches in diameter.

Starting at center, ch 6, join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 7 (to count as 1 tr and ch-2), * tr in ring, ch 2. Repeat from * until 19 sts are made; then, ch 2, join with sl st to 5th st of ch-6 first made (20 sps). 2nd and 3rd rnds: * Ch 5, s c in next loop. Repeat from * around. 4th rnd: Sl st to center of next loop, ch 10 (to count as 1 tr and ch-5), * tr in next loop, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to 5th ch of ch-9 first made. 5th rnd: Sl st in next st, ch 5 (to count as 1 d c and ch-2), skip 1 ch, * tr in next ch, ch 2, skip 1 ch, d c in ch just before the tr, skip tr, d c in next st, ch 2, skip 1 ch. Repeat from * around. Join last d c with sl st to 3rd ch of ch-5 first made. 6th rnd: * S c in next sp, ch 5, s c in next sp, ch 3, skip the 2 d c, s c in next sp, ch 2, 2 d c in same sp, ch 2, s c in same sp, ch 2, d c in same sp, skip tr, d c in next sp, ch 2, s c in same sp, ch 2, 2 d c in same sp, ch 2, s c in same sp, ch 3, skip the 2 d c. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-3 with sl st to base of ch-5 loop first made. Break off. 7th rnd: Attach thread between 1st and 2nd d c of next scallop, ch 10 (to count as tr and ch-5), * tr at top of next scallop, ch 5, tr at top of next scallop, ch 8, s c in next ch-5 loop, ch 8, tr at top of next scallop, ch 5. 8th rnd: Sl st to center of ch-5 loop, * ch 5, s c in next loop, repeat from * around, ending rnd with ch-2, d c at base of 1st loop made. 9th rnd: Ch 12 (to count as tr and ch-7), * tr in next loop, ch 7, tr in same loop, ch 7, tr in next loop, ch 2, skip 1 loop, tr in next loop, ch 7. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-2 to 5th ch of ch-12 first made. 10th rnd: Sl st in each of next 2 ch, ch 12 (to count as tr and ch-7), * tr in next loop, ch 7, tr in same loop, ch 7, tr in same loop, ch 7, tr in next loop, ch 2, skip ch-2 loop, tr in next loop, ch 7. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-2 to 5th ch of ch-12 first made. 11th rnd: Sl st in each of next 2 ch, ch 12 (to count as tr and ch-7), * tr in next loop, ch 7, tr in same loop, ch 7, tr in next loop, ch 7, tr in same loop, ch 7, tr in next loop, skip ch-2 loop, tr in next loop, ch 7.
