MATERIALS: Chadwick's Red Heart Baby Wool, 3 balls (¾ oz. balls) … J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Six Strand Embroidery Floss, 1 skein each of Blue and Red … Bone Crochet Hook No. 3 … Cotton Batting … ½ yard of ribbon.

FOOT and LEG1st rnd: Ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around (16 sc). 3rd rnd: * Sc in 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Re­peat from * around (20 sc). 4th rnd: Working only in the back loop of each sc, make sc in each sc around (20 sc). 5th rnd: * Ch 6, sc in front loop of next sc. Repeat from * around (20 loops). 6th rnd: Working in remain­ing loop of each sc of last sc rnd, work sc in each sc around (20 sc). 7th rnd: Working in both loops of each sc, make sc in each sc around (20 sc). Repeat 5th, 6th and 7th rnds 5 more times. Break off. Make another foot and leg same as this. Do not break off but continue as follows:

BODY1st rnd: Ch 7, drop loop from hook, insert hook in last sc of first leg and pull loop through, thus joining legs. (Ch 6, sc in front loop of next sc) 14 times on first leg. Ch 7, join as before to corresponding posi­tion on second leg, (ch 6, sc in front loop of next sc) 14 times on second leg. 2nd rnd: (Sc in each of 7 ch, sc in remaining back loops of next 14 sc) twice (42 sc). Mark beginning of each rnd to insure correct shaping. 3rd rnd: Working in both loops of each sc, make sc in each sc around (42 sc). 4th rnd: * Ch 6, sc in front loop of next sc. Repeat from * around (42 loops). 5th rnd: Working in remain­ing loop of each sc of last sc rnd, work sc in each sc around (42 sc). 6th rnd: 2 sc in next sc, (sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) twice; sc in 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) twice; sc in 21 sc (48 sc). 7th and 8th rnds: Same as 4th rnd (48 loops) and 5th rnd (48 sc). 9th rnd: Sc in 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) twice; sc in 21 sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) twice; sc in 7 sc (54 sc). 10th and 11th rnds: Same as 4th (54 loops) and 5th (54 sc) rnds. 12th to 20th rnds incl: Re­peat 3rd, 4th and 5th rnds 3 times (54 sc). 21st rnd: Skip 1 sc, sc in 12 sc, skip 1 sc, sc in 14 sc, skip 1 sc, sc in 10 sc, skip 1 sc, sc in 14 sc (50 sc). 22nd and 23rd rnds: Same as 4th and 5th rnds (50 sc). 24th rnd: * Skip next sc, sc in 9 sc. Repeat from * around (45 sc). 25th and 26th rnds: Same as 4th and 5th rnds (45 sc). 27th rnd: Sc in 4 sc, (skip next sc, sc in 8 sc) 4 times; skip next sc, sc in 4 sc (40 sc). 28th and 29th rnds: Same as 4th and 5th rnds (40 sc). 30th rnd: Sc in 8 sc, skip next sc, sc in 2 sc, skip next sc, sc in 4 sc, skip next sc, sc in 2 sc, skip next sc, sc in 20 sc (36 sc). 31st and 32nd rnds: Same as 4th and 5th rnds (36 sc). 33rd rnd: Sc in 8 sc, (skip next sc, sc in 2 sc) 3 times; skip next sc, sc in 18 sc (32 sc). 34th and 35th rnds: Same as 4th and 5th rnds (32 sc). 36th rnd: Sc in 9 sc, (skip next sc, sc in 2 sc) 3 times; skip next sc, sc in 13 sc (28 sc). 37th and 38th rnds: Same as 4th and 5th rnds (28 sc). 39th rnd: * Sc in 3 sc, skip next sc. Repeat from * around (21 sc). 40th and 41st rnds: Same as 4th and 5th rnds (21 sc). 42nd rnd: Sc in each sc around. Break off.
   Attach yarn to end of one ch-7, join­ing legs. 1st row: Sc in 7 ch. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 6, turn. 3rd row: Sc in front loop of 1st sc, * ch 6, sc in front loop of next sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 4th row: Sc in remaining loop of each sc of last sc row. Ch 1, turn. 5th and 6th rows: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 7th, 8th and 9th rows: Repeat 3rd, 4th and 5th rows. Break off. Sew sides of this flap to inner edges of legs and end of flap to back of body. Stuff legs and body. Close neck opening.

FACE … Starting at nose, ch 2. 1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 2nd, 3rd and 4th rnds: Sc in each sc around. 5th rnd: 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc). 6th rnd: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around (18 sc). 7th rnd: * Sc in 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around (24 sc). To insure proper shaping, mark beginning of each rnd. 8th rnd: * Ch 6, sc in front loop of next sc. Repeat from * around (24 loops). 9th rnd: Sc in remaining back loop of each sc of last sc rnd (24 sc). 10th rnd: 2 sc in next sc, sc in 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in 12 sc (28 sc). 11th and 12th rnds: Same as 8th and 9th rnds (28 sc). 13th rnd: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc) 8 times; 2 sc in next sc, sc in 11 sc (37 sc). 14th and 15th rnds: Same as 8th and 9th rnds (37 sc). 16th rnd: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc) 8 times; 2 sc in next sc, sc in 12 sc (46 sc). 17th and 18th rnds: Same as 8th and 9th rnds (46 sc). 19th rnd: Sc in each sc around, increasing 8 sc evenly all around (54 sc). 20th and 21st rnds: Same as 8th and 9th rnds (54 sc). 22nd rnd: Sc in both loops of each sc around (54 sc). 23rd and 24th rnds: Same as 8th and 9th rnds (54 sc). Break off.

BACK OF HEAD … Ch 2. 1st rnd: 6  sc in 2nd ch from hook. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around. 3rd and 4th rnds: Same as 8th and 9th rnds of Face (12 sc). 5th rnd: 2 sc in both loops of each sc around (24 sc). 6th and 7th rnds: Same as 3rd and 4th rnds (24 sc). 8th rnd: * 2 sc in both loops of next sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around (36 sc). 9th and 10th rnds: Same as 3rd and 4th rnds (36 sc). 11th rnd: * 2 sc in next sc, sc in 2 sc. Repeat from * around (48 sc). 12th and 13th rnds: Same as 3rd and 4th rnds (48 sc). 14th rnd: * 2 sc in next sc, sc in 3 sc. Repeat from * around (60 sc). 15th and 16th rnds: Same as 3rd and 4th rnds. Break off.
   Sew edges of Face and Back of Head together, stuffing before closing open­ing. Sew head onto body, having in­creased portion of Face for forehead.

EAR (Make 2) … Work as for Back of Head until 7th rnd has been completed. Break off. Fold piece in half and sew curved edges together. Sew folded edge to head at proper angle.

EYE (Make 2) … With Blue Six Strand ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook; then make 2 sc in next 4 sc. Break off. Sew eyes in place. With Red Six Strand, embroider mouth as illustrated.

ARM (Make 2) … Ch 12. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Sc in each ch around (12 sc). 2nd rnd: (Ch 6, sc in front loop of next sc) 12 times (12 loops). 3rd rnd: Sc in remaining back loop of each sc on last sc rnd (12 sc). 4th rnd: Sc in both loops of each sc around (12 sc). Repeat 2nd, 3rd and 4th rnds 4 more times. Next rnd: Sc in both loops of 4 sc, sl st in next 4 sc (forming wrist), sc in both loops of next 4 sc. Next 2 rnds: Sc in both loops of each sc around (12 sc). Press sts together and work through both thicknesses, making sc, dc, dc, tr, dc and sc (forming paw). Break off. Stuff arms and sew in place. Tie a bow around neck.
