Size: Infants
REQUIREMENTS:
YARN: 4-ounces of 3-ply Baby Yarn.
CROCHET HOOK: 1-Bone #4.
SWEATER: Starting at the lower part of back yoke, make a chain of 60 sts. Make 1 d c in 3rd st from hook, 1 d c in each of the remaining chain sts (57 d c). Ch 3, turn. Make 1 d c in each d c on row below. Repeat this last row 9 times more (11 rows in all). 12th row: Ch 3, turn; 1 d c in next 16 sts; chain 14 sts (neck edge); turn. 13th row: 1 d c in 3rd st from hook and in each of the remaining 11 chain sts; 1 d c in next 16 sts, 1 d c in top of turning chain. 14th row: Ch 3, turn, 1 d c in each st across row (28 sts). Repeat row 14, 8 times more. Break yarn. 2nd front yoke: Make a loose chain of 11 sts, now make 1 d c in 17th st (counting from the armhole edge) and 1 d c in next 16 sts. Ch 3, turn. Work 1 d c in each st across row and in the 11 chain sts (28 d c). Work to correspond to the other front yoke. Break yarn. Body part: Tie yarn at front edge and working across the first front; ch 7, 1 s c in 2nd d c in row below, * ch 5, skip 1 st, 1 s c in next st; repeat from * across front (14 loops); ch 5, 1 s c in first d c on back yoke; repeat between *’s across back (28 loops on back); ch 5, 1 s c in first st on front yoke; repeat between *’s across 2nd front (13 loops). Ch 6, turn. 1st row: D c in first loop, * ch 3, d c in next loop; repeat from * across row (57 spaces). 2nd row: Ch 4, in first space make - 4 d c; * ch 1, skip 1 space, 5 d c in next space, repeat from * across row (29 d c groups). 3rd row: Ch 4, holding back the last loop of each tr c on hook, make tr c in next 2 d c, thread over and draw thru all loops on hook (cluster made); * ch 1, holding back the last loop of each tr c on hook, make tr c in same place as last tr c, tr c in next 2 d c, complete cluster as before (twin cluster completed), ch 2, make a cluster over the next 3 d c; repeat from * across row. Ch 7, turn. 4th row: * s c in next space, ch 5, repeat from * across row, ending with s c in last space (57 loops). Ch 6, turn. Repeat these 4 rows for the pattern. Work until the piece measures 6 inches from the yoke, ending with 4th row of pattern. Break yarn.
SLEEVES: Tie yarn at the underarm edge (in center of ch 5), ch 5, 1 s c in side of first d c row on armhole, * ch 5, 1 s c in side of next d c row on armhole; repeat from * around (23 loops). Ch 6, turn. Now work in the pattern as on the body part of the sweater. Note: You will have 23 spaces and 12 double crochet groups in the sleeve. Work until the sleeve measures 5 inches from the armhole, ending with 4th row of pattern. Break yarn. Sew up sleeve. Make the other sleeve the same way.
BONNET: Starting at the center back: Chain 3 sts, join with a slip st to form a ring. Make 6 s c into ring. 2nd round: 2 s c in each st. 3rd round: (mark the beginning of round as an aid in counting): 1 s c in next st, 2 s c in next st, repeat around. 4th round: 1 s c in next 2 sts, 2 s c in next st; repeat around. Having 1 more st between each increase, keep increasing 6 sts on a round until you have 13 sts between increases (90 s c). Next row: Make 1 s c in next 72 sts, (the remaining 18 sts are for the back of bonnet). Ch 6, turn. Next row: * skip 1 st, s c in next st, ch 5, skip 2 sts, s c in next st, ch 5, repeat from * across the 72 sts (29 loops). Ch 6, turn. Now work in the pattern as on the sweater until 4 patterns have been completed. Break yarn. Turn back the last 3 rows for front band. Tie yarn at left front side. Neck edge: Make 13 chain-5 loops across front, 7 loops across back section, 13 loops across 2nd front edge. Ch 6, turn. Next row: 1 d c in first loop, * ch 3, 1 d c in next loop; repeat from * across row. Ch 6, turn. Next row: * 1 s c in next space, ch 5, repeat from * across row. Break yarn. Trim with ribbon.
BOOTIES: Sole: Chain 21 sts, 3 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in next 18 sts of chain, 3 s c in last st, working on the opposite side of chain, make 1 s c in next 18 sts, do not join rows. Place a marker at beginning of each row. 2nd row: * 2 s c in each of the next 3 sts, 1 s c in each of the next 18 sts, repeat from * around. 3rd row: Make 1 s c in each s c. 4th row: * 2 s c in next s c, 1 s c in next s c, 2 s c in each of the next 2 s c, 1 s c in next s c, 2 s c in next s c, 1 s c in each of the next 18 s c; repeat from * around. 5th row: * 1 s c in each of the next 3 s c, 2 s c in each of the next 4 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 21 s c, repeat from * around. 6th row: Work even, 1 s c in each st around. 7th row: * 1 s c in each of the next 5 s c, 2 s c in each of the next 4 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 23 s c; repeat from * around. 8th row: Work 1 s c in each st around. Break yarn. TOP PART: Make a chain of 9, turn, 1 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each of the remaining chain sts (8 s c); ch 1, turn. 2nd row: 1 s c in each s c across row. Repeat this last row 6 times more. Chain 42 sts for ankle, slip st into opposite end of row. Make 8 s c along side of instep, 1 s c in first scan front of instep, 2 s c in each of the next 6 sts, 1 s c in next s c, 8 s c along 2nd side of instep, 1 s c in each of the 42-chain sts (72 s c in row). Mark beginning of round. Work 1 s c in each s c for 7 rounds. Break yarn. Sew this piece to sole part, having centers of both pieces in the same place. Upper section: Tie yarn at center of heel, ch 7, * skip 2 sts, 1 d c in next st, ch 3, repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, slip st in 4th st of ch-7 (18 spaces). Now work back and forth in the same pattern as on the sweater starting with row 1. Make 2 complete patterns. Break yarn. Sew up back of bootie. Make the other bootie the same way. Trim with ribbon.
