67 balls of White or Ecru,
or 106 balls of any color.

Milward's Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

GAUGE: Each motif measures about 5 inches from one pc st edge to opposite edge, across center before blocking. For a single size spread about 70 x 105 inches, make 292 motifs. For a double size spread about 88 x 105 inches, make 370 motifs.

MOTIF ... Starting at center, ch 8. Join with sl st. 1st rnd: 12 s c in ring. Sl st in 1st s c made. 2nd rnd: Ch 6, skip 1 s c, * d c in next s c, ch 3. Repeat from * around. Sl st in 3rd st of ch-6 first made (6 sps). 3rd rnd: In each ch-3 sp around, make s c, half d c, 5 d c, half d c and s c (6 petals). 4th rnd: * Ch 5, s c in next d c between petals (working from behind petals). Repeat from * around, ending with ch 5, sl st in 3rd st of ch-6 on 2nd rnd. 5th rnd: In each ch-5 loop around, make s c, half d c, d c, 5 tr, d c, half d c and s c (6 large petals). 6th rnd: Sl st to center st of next petal, ch 6, d c in same place as last sl st, * ch 5, d c between petals, ch 5, in center st of next petal, make d c, ch 3 and d c. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 5, sl st to 3rd st of ch-6 first made. 7th rnd: * In next ch-3 sp make s c, half d c, 5 d c, half d c and s c (petal made); ch 5, pc st in next d c—to make a pc st ch 1, 5 d c in same place, drop loop from hook, insert hook in ch preceding 5 d c and draw dropped loop through; ch 5. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 5, sl st in 1st s c made. 8th rnd: Sl st to center st of next petal, ch 6, d c in same place as last sl st, * ch 5, pc st in next sp, ch 1, pc st in next sp, ch 5, in center st of next petal make d c, ch 3 and d c. 9th rnd: * In next ch-3 sp make a petal as before, ch 5, pc st in next sp, ch 1, pc st in sp between pc sts, ch 1, pc st in next sp, ch 5. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 5, sl st in 1st s c made. 10th rnd: Sl st to center st of petal, ch 6, d c in same place as last sl st, * ch 5, pc st in next sp, (ch 1, pc st in next sp) 3 times; ch 5, in center st of next petal make d c, ch 3 and d c. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 5, sl st in 3rd st of ch-6 first made. 11th rnd: * In next ch-3 sp make a petal, ch 5, pc st in next sp, (ch 1, pc st in next sp) 4 times; ch 5.
