Cuddle Cat Toy Pattern

Materials Required:
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"DAWN" WOOL and NYLON BULKY YARN or
"DAWN" BULKY YARN
6 ounces Shell Pink or
"DAWN" KNITTING WORSTED
5 ounces White or color of your choice and
"AUNT LYDIA'S" CARPET and BUTTON THREAD
1 spool Black
Aluminum Crochet Hook Size G
Scraps of Felt for Face Cotton for filling
1 yd. ½  inch Ribbon

HEAD: Chain (ch) 2, 6 single crochet (sc) in 2nd stitch (st) from hook, do not join or turn this or following rounds, place a marker at beginning of each round. 2nd ROUND: 2 sc in each of the next 3 sc, 1 double loop stitch in each of the next 3 sc (double loop st: insert hook in st, wind yarn twice around index finger, pick up both loops on finger, pull through st, yarn over and complete sc). NOTE: Double loop sts will be referred to as loop sts from now on. 3rd ROUND: 1 sc in each sc increasing 4 sts evenly spaced. 4th ROUND: 1 loop st in each of the next 3 sts, 1 sc in each of the next 7 sts, 1 loop st in each of the next 3 sts. 5th ROUND: 1 sc in each st increasing 4 sts evenly spaced. 6th ROUND: 1 loop st in each of the next 4 sts, 1 sc in each of the next 9 sts, 1 loop st in each of the next 4 sts. 7th ROUND: Repeat 5th round. 8th ROUND: 1 loop st in each of the next 7 sc, 1 sc in each of the next 7 sc, 1 loop st in each of the next 7 sc. 9th ROUND: Repeat 5th round. 10th ROUND: 1 loop st in each of the next 9 sc, 1 sc in each of the next 7 sc, 1 loop st in each of the next 9 sc. 11th ROUND: 1 sc in each st (25 sc). 12th ROUND: 1 loop st in each of the next 10 sc, 1 sc in each of the next 5 sc, 1 loop st in each of the next 10 sc. 13th ROUND: 1 sc in each st decreasing 4 sts evenly spaced (to decrease: * insert hook in next st, pull loop through, repeat from * once, yarn over and work off all loops at one time). 14th ROUND: 1 loop st in each of the next 9 sc, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sc, 1 loop st in each of the next 9 sc. 15th ROUND: Same as 13th round. 16th ROUND: 1 loop st in each of the next 8 sc, 1 sc in next sc, 1 loop st in each of the next 8 sc. 17th ROUND: 1 sc in each st decreasing 3 sts evenly spaced. 18th ROUND: 1 loop st in each sc, join, cut yarn.

BODY: Ch 11, 1 sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in each st of ch, ch 1 to turn all rows. 2nd ROW: 1 loop st in each sc. 3rd ROW: 1 sc in each st. Repeat last 2 rows until work measures about 4¼ inches ending with a loop st row, cut yarn. Work another section in same manner.

FRONT LEGS: Ch 7, 1 sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in each st of ch, ch 1 to turn all rows. 2nd ROW: 1 sc in each sc. 3rd ROW: 1 loop st in each sc. Repeat last 2 rows until leg section measures about 5 inches from beginning ending with a loop st row, cut yarn. Work another section in same manner. HIND LEGS: Ch 8, 1 sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in each st of ch, ch 1 to turn all rows. 2nd ROW: 1 sc in each sc. 3rd ROW: 1 loop st in each sc. Repeat last 2 rows until leg section measures about 7 inches ending with a loop st row, cut yarn. Work another section in same manner.

EARS: Ch 2, 2 sc in 2nd st from hook, ch 1 to turn all rows. 2nd ROW: 1 loop st in each st. 3rd ROW: 2 sc in each st. 4th ROW: 1 loop st in each st. 5th ROW: 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in last st. 6th ROW: 1 loop st in each st, cut yarn. Work another section in same manner.

TAIL: Ch 4, 1 sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in each st of ch, ch 1 to turn all rows. 2nd ROW: 1 loop st in each sc. 3rd ROW: 1 sc in each st. Repeat last 2 rows until tail section measures 8 inches, cut yarn.

TO ASSEMBLE: Fill head with cotton. Sew sides of body together leaving about 2 inches free from shoulders for front leg opening. Sew across lower edge then fill with cotton. Sew top and shoulders of body. Sew head to center of top of body section. Fill front legs slightly with cotton and sew all around. Sew in position having the sc section for paws. Fill hind legs in same manner and sew as illustrated. Sew ears in position. With "AUNT LYDIA'S" CARPET and BUTTON THREAD sew 4 long stitches on paws. Sew Tail same as front leg, but do not fill, sew tail in position. Cut features as illustrated from felt and sew or paste in place.
