Small Ball:
Clark's O.N.T.—3 balls of White or Ecru, or 5 balls of any color.

J. & P. Coats—3 balls of White, Ecru, or any color.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 12.

Chair Back—about 8 x 14 inches.
Arm Pieces—about 5 x 12 inches.

Gauge: 6 sps make 1 inch; 6 rows make 1 inch.

CHAIR BACK … Starting at bottom of chart ch 27 (12 ch sts to 1 inch). 1st row: D c in 4th ch from hook and in each ch (25 d c, counting turning ch as 1 d c). Ch 8, turn. 2nd row: D c in 4th ch from hook, d c in next 4 ch, d c in next d c (2 bls increased); ch 2, skip 2 d c, d c in next d c (1 sp); make 6 more sps, ch 2, skip 2 d c, make a foundation d c in 3rd st of turning ch—to make a foundation d c, thread over, insert hook in st and draw loop through; thread over and draw through one loop, thus making a ch st; finish as for a d c—make 5 more foundation d c by inserting hook in ch-1 of pre­vious d c; then make a d c in usual way. Fasten off. Lay this piece aside and make another piece like this; do not break off but ch 8, turn. 3rd row: D c in 4th ch from hook and in each ch, d c in next d c, ch 2, skip 2 d c, d c in next d c; make 10 more sps, ch 2, skip 2 d c, make foundation d c in turning ch; make 7 more foundation d c and 1 d c in usual way; d c in d c of first piece (3 bls); 12 sps, inc. 2 bls. Ch 5, turn. Starting at 4th row, follow chart until 22 rows are made. 23rd row: Sl st in each of 4 d c (1 bl decreased). Ch 3 and follow chart across to within last bl. Continue to follow chart until 45 rows are made, turn. 46th row: Dec. 2 bls, ch 3, make 2 bls, 8 sps, 2 bls. turn. 47th row: Dec. 2 bls, ch 3, d c in each ch and in each d c to within last 2 bls. Fasten off. Attach thread to last d c of 3rd bl on 46th row and follow chart to end.

ARM PIECES … Starting at bottom of chart, ch 24. 1st row: D c in 4th ch from hook and in each ch (22 d c, counting turning ch as 1 d c). Ch 5, turn. Follow chart.
