Materials Required:
Columbia-Minerva Nantuk 4 Ply Knitting Yarn
(Knitting Worsted Size--2 or 4 oz. skein)
Light Color--20 Oz.
Dark Color--24 Oz.

Columbia-Minerva Knitting Worsted (4 oz. skein)
Light Color--5 Skeins
Dark Color--6 Skeins
1 "Boye" Aluminum Crochet Hook "K"
Gauge: Square should measure 6 1/4 inches
One Square:
Row 1--With Light Color Ch 18. Work 1 S.C. in 2nd Ch. from hook, then 1 S.C. in each Ch. across, turn. Drop strand but do not break. Draw Dark Color through loop on hook, Ch 1.
Row 2--With Dark Color work 1 S.C. in each St. across, Ch 1, turn.
Row 3--Same as Row 2, ending drop strand, draw Light Color through loop on hook, Ch 1.
Row 4--With Light Color work 1 S.C. in first St., *insert hook from front under next St. (going into space of row below), draw loop through and finish as a S.C., 1 S.C. in next St., repeat from * across row, Ch 1, turn.
Row 5--With Light Color work 1 S.C. in each St. across, drop strand, draw Dark Color through loop on hook, Ch 1. Repeat from Row 2 four times more, break yarn and fasten. Square should measure 6 1/4 inches by 6 1/4 inches.
Make 63 Squares.
To Join: With Light Color sew Squares together as illustrated, having 7 Squares in width and 9 Squares in length. With Dark Color work 2 rows of S.C. around entire Afghan.
Fringe: With Dark Color wind yarn over a 6 inch cardboard. Fold and knot 6 strands about 1/2 inch apart across each end of Afghan.
