15 1¼ oz. Skeins Blue.
14 1¼ oz. Skeins Black.
2 1¼ oz. Skeins White.
Bone Crochet Hook No. 6.
NARROW STRIPE. With Blue, ch 32, work 31 Afghan sts on ch (for Afghan st see directions in Fleur de Lis Afghan). Continue working in Afghan st until there are 100 rows, break yarn. Attach Black and work 100 rows in Black, sl st across row, break yarn.
2nd Stripe. With Black, ch 32, work 31 Afghan sts on ch, work even for 100 rows, break yarn.
Attach Blue and work 100 rows, sl st across row, break yarn.
Work a row of s c on each long side working 100 s c in Blue on Blue section and 100 s c in Black on Black section. Work other stripe in same manner. Sew 2 stripes together having Black section next to Blue section, and Blue section next to Black section.
WIDE STRIPE. With Blue, ch 69, insert needle in 2nd st from hook, pull loop through, insert needle in next st, pull loop through, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on needle, ch 1, * insert needle in next st, pull loop through, insert needle in next st, pull loop through, yarn over and pull through all loops on needle, ch 1, repeat from * across row, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row. Insert needle in loop of pattern, pull loop through, insert needle under the ch 1, pull loop through having 1 thread between the last 2 loops, yarn over and pull through all loops on needle, ch 1, continue in same manner across row.
Repeat 2nd row until there are 110 rows of pattern, change to Black and work 110 rows. Work another wide stripe in the same manner starting with Black and ending with Blue. Work 100 s c in Blue on Blue, 100 s c in Black on Black on the side which is joined to the narrow stripes, sewing Blue to Black section and Black to Blue section picking up back loop of sts only. Finish other wide stripe to correspond. Work a row of s c all around working in color to match and working 3 s c in each corner st.
EDGE. Work Blue on Black and Black on Blue working 3 rows of pattern same as wide stripes and working 3 patterns in each corner.
Next Row. * Ch 3, d c in same space, skip 2 sts, sl st in next st, repeat from * all around skipping 1 st at corners, break yarn.
Leaf. With Blue, ch 4, 2 d c in 1st st of ch, * ch 3, turn, 1 d c in each d c (the ch 3 counts as 1 d c and is an increase) repeat from * until there are 10 d c in row, work 1 row even, then decrease 1 st at beginning of each row until 4 sts remain, ch 3, turn, yarn over needle, insert in next d c, work off 2 loops, yarn over needle, insert in last d c, work off 2 loops, yarn over and work off all loops at one time, break yarn. Work 9 more Blue and 10 White leaves in same manner. Appliqué on narrow stripes as illustrated having Blue leaves on Black sections and White leaves on Blue sections.
