Small, Medium and Large

COATS & CLARK'S O.N.T. "SPEED-CRO-SHEEN" MERCERIZED COTTON, Art. C.44: 2 balls each of No. 46-A Mid Rose and No. 12 Black; and
J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN" METALLIC, Art. A.64: 1 ball of No. M.46-A Mid Rose.
2 pairs of inner soles … 1 yard of round elastic … 2 bone rings, 1 inch in diameter.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 1/0 (zero).

GAUGE: 6 sc make 1 inch; 6 rows make 1 inch.

Directions are given for Small Size. Changes for Medium and Large Sizes are in parentheses.

SOLE—Bottom … Starting at center with Black, ch loosely 33 (36-39). 1st rnd: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 15 ch, dc in next 15 (18-21) ch, 7 dc in last ch (toe end); working along opposite side of starting chain, dc in next 15 (18-21) ch, sc in each remaining ch. Join with sl st. 2nd to 8th rnds incl: Sc in each st around, increasing 3 sc evenly around heel and 5 sc evenly around toe end—to inc 1 sc, make 2 sc in 1 sc. At end of 8th rnd, sl st in each sc around, join and break off. With Mid Rose work another Sole the same way for Top.

INNER HEEL … With Black, ch 16. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, 3 sc in last ch (heel end). Working along opposite side of starting chain, sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd to 8th rows incl: Sc in each st around, increasing 3 sc evenly at heel end. 9th row: Sl st in each sc around. Break off. Make another piece the same way. Sew edges of heels to­gether and sew to Bottom Sole. Place 2 inner soles on top and sew Top Sole to Bottom Sole.

TOE PIECE … Attach Mid Rose "Speed-Cro-Sheen" and Metallic to ring, make 20 sc in ring. Join with sl st. 1st row: Working in back loop only, sc in next 10 sc. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: 2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row until 9 rows have been completed. Break off. Attach both threads to first sc of re­maining 10 sc on ring and complete other side to correspond. Sew to Sole.

SIDE … Working with Mid Rose "Speed-Cro-Sheen" and Metallic, ch 11. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece is long enough to reach around Sole, leaving a 2-inch sp between Toe Piece and Side. Sew in place.
   Cut elastic in half. Working over elastic, attach Mid Rose "Speed-Cro-Sheen" and Metallic to center of Toe Piece and sc closely around upper edge of Toe Piece and sides. Join with sl st and break off. Tie ends of elastic.
   Make another slipper the same way.
