Materials Required:
AMERICAN THREAD
"DAWN" KNITTING WORSTED
6 (7) – 4 oz. skeins Black
23 (30) – 1 oz. skeins assorted colors
Plastic Crochet Hook Size H OR ANY SIZE HOOK WHICH WILL RESULT IN MOTIF GAUGE BELOW

GAUGE: Each motif is a 4½ inch square.
Directions are given for Small size (10-12-14).
Changes for Medium-Large size (16-18-20) are given in parentheses.

MOTIF: With any color ch 4, join to form a ring, ch 3 (counts as 1 d c), 2 d c in ring, * ch 1, 3 d c in ring, repeat from * twice, ch 1, join in 3rd st of ch, cut yarn. 2nd ROUND: Attach next color in ch 1 loop, ch 3, 2 d c, ch 1, 3 d c in same loop, * 3 d c, ch 1, 3 d c in next loop, repeat from * twice, join in 3rd st of ch, cut yarn. 3rd ROUND: Attach next color in corner loop, ch 3, 2 d c, ch 1, 3 d c in same loop, * 3 d c in next space bet cor­ners, 3 d c, ch 1, 3 d c, in next loop, re­peat from * twice, 3 d c in next space, join in 3rd st of ch. 4th ROUND: Attach Black in corner loop, ch 3, 2 d c, ch 1, 3 d c in same loop, * 3 d c in each of the next 2 spaces, 3 d c, ch 1, 3 d c in corner loop, repeat from * twice, 3 d c in each of the next 2 spaces, join in 3rd st of ch. 5th ROUND: Ch 1, work 3 s c in each corner st and work 1 s c in each st in round, join in 1st s c, cut yarn. Work 97 (107) more motifs in same manner working colors as desired.

FINISHING: Sew motifs tog through loop in back of sts of last row according to charts below. Line coat if desired.

TRIM: With Black, ch 3, work 5 s c in 1st st of ch. Do not join or turn rows. Working into back loop of each st work 1 s c in each st until trim is long enough to fit all around edge of coat. Finish each sleeve edge in same manner.

NOTE: If a shorter or longer coat is de­sired, work in same manner omitting 1 row or adding 1 row of motifs as required.
