Duck Pot Holder Pattern

Any of these holder sets can be made from a ball of White Enterprise Yarn and approximately 50 yds. of color matching the kitchen decorations.

Makes a heavy holder—decorative, too. For the crocheted circles, follow clock instructions.

HEAD: With White, follow instructions for the clocks through Round 8,—to measure 3½ in. Make two.
For Body, follow the same instructions through Round 12,— to measure 5½ in. Make two.

WING: With color, ch 10, 9 sc on ch, ch 1, 9 sc on other side of ch. Work in back loop of sts to complete wing.
ROW 2: Ch 2, turn, sk first st, sc in 10 sc, 3 sc in ch 1, sc in next 9 sts, ch 2, turn.
ROW 3: Sk first st, 10 sc, 2 sc in each of next 3 sts, 9 sc, 2 sc in end sc, ch 2, turn.
ROW 4: Sk 1 st, sc in 12 sts, (2 sc in next, sc in next) 3 times, 9 sc, 2 sc in end sc, ch 2, turn.
ROW 5: Sc in 14 sts, 2 sc in next, sc in 5, 2 sc in next, 13 sc to end of row. Ch 3, turn.
ROW 6: Sc in 16 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in next) 5 times, sc in 12 sts, 2 more sc in end st. Fasten off. Make two.

BILL: With color, ch 8, sk first st of ch, sc in next 4 sts, sl st in 3 sts, ch 1, sl st in first 3 sts on other side of ch, sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next 5 sc, 4 sl sts. Fasten off. Make two.

FOOT: (One only.) ROW 1: With color, ch 10, sk first st of ch, sl st in next 9 sts. Ch 1, turn.
ROW 2: Sl st in 3rd st from hook, sl st in back loops of next 5 sts, ch 3, sk 1 st, sl st in back loops of next 9 sts, ch 1, turn.
ROW 3: Same as Row 2. Fasten off.

Sew wings in place on outside of each body piece (see picture for position). Sew foot on inside bottom of one side of body. Sew body pieces together. Embroider eyes with color on center of both head pieces. Sew together, but leave opening at bottom—insert body and sew remaining sts of head to body on each side. Place two pieces of bill together and sew to each side of head.
