DEFINITIONS AND ABBREVIATIONS
Chain Stitch (ch)—Start with a slip knot on hook. * Thread over and draw thru loop on hook. Repeat from * until ch is desired length.
Slip Stitch (sl st)—Insert hook in work, catch thread and draw thru work and loop on hook at same time.
Single Crochet (sc)—With a loop on hook, insert hook in work, catch thread and pull thru work, thread over again and draw thru the 2 loops on hook.
Half Double Crochet (hdc)—Make like dc as far as *, then thread over and draw thru all 3 loops on hook at once.
Double Crochet (dc)—Thread over, insert hook in work, catching thread and pull thru work, making 3 loops on hook. * Thread over and draw thru 2 loops, thread over and draw thru remaining 2 loops.
Treble Crochet (tr)—Thread over twice, insert hook in work, catch thread and pull thru work, making 4 loops on hook. Work off in groups of two as in dc.
Double Treble (dtr)—Thread over three times and work off as in dc, two loops at a time.
Triple Treble (tr tr)—Thread over 4 times and work off in twos.

DIRECTIONS FOR THUMB
Join to end of thumb opening closest to edge, dc in 9 sts across bottom of opening, hdc in end of opening, sc in 9 sts across top of opening. Without joining rows, make sc in 19 sts around for 5 rows. ROWS 7 thru 12—Make one decrease in each row for 6 rows. ROW 13—Make 6 de-creases, sl st in next st. Cut 8" long and sew end tog.

FACE—With Tea Rose and No. 0 hook, ch 17, sk 3 ch, sc in next 2 ch, hdc in next 2 ch, dc in next 2 ch, holding back the last lp of each dc on hook, make dc in next 2 ch, yarn over and draw thru all lps on hook (Cluster-decrease made), dc in next 2 ch, hdc in next 2 ch, sc in next ch, sc and hdc in end ch. ROW 2—Ch 3, turn, hdc and sc in 1st hdc, sc in each st across with sc, hdc and dc in end ch-3. ROW 3—Repeat Row 2. ROW 4—Ch 3, turn, sc in each st across with sc and hdc in end ch-3. (More)
FRONT—Roof—With Red Yarn and No. 0 hook, ch 40, 3 dc in 5th ch from hook, sk next 2 ch, sc in next ch, (ch 3, 3 dc in next ch, sk next 2 ch, sc in next ch) 8 times. ROW 2—Ch 3, turn, sc in ch-3 of 1st shell, (ch 3, 3 dc in same place, sc in ch-3 of next shell) repeated across (1 less shell than last row). Repeat Row 2 thru Row 9 (1 shell left). Fasten off. Wall—With Lt. Blue ch 25, sk 3 ch, hdc in remaining 22 ch. ROW 2—Ch 2, turn, hdc in each hdc across (same number as last row). Do not work in end ch in this row. (More)
FRONT—Crown—With Yellow Yarn and No. 0 hook, ch 19, sk 1 ch, sc in next 18 ch. ROW 2—Ch 3, turn, 2 dc in 1st sc, * dc in next 4 sc, holding back the last lp of each dc on hook, make dc in next 2 sc, yarn over and draw thru all lps on hook (a Cluster-decrease made). Starting in center with Orange, ch 5, join with sl st to form ring. ROW 1—Ch 1, 8 sc in ring, join with sl st in 1st sc, draw out lp, pass ball thru and pull tight. ROW 2—Turn, sc in Brown in back lp of 1 sc, * holding back the last lp of each dc on hook, make 2 dc in same sc, yarn over and draw thru all lps on hook (a Cluster-puff st made), sc in back lp of next sc. ORANGE—With Orange Yarn and No. 0 hook, ch 2, 8 sc in 2d ch from hook. Do not join rows but mark end of each row. ROW 2—(2 sc in next sc) 8 times. ROW 3—(Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) 8 times. FRONT—In Red ch 72, sc in 2d ch from hook, * holding back the last lp of each dc on hook, make 2 dc in next ch, thread over and draw thru all lps at once for a Cluster (1 puff st made), sc in next ch pulled down tight so that the puff st puffs out on back (right side of work). PINWHEEL—With Green ch 8, join with sl st to form ring. ROW 1—Ch 3, 17 dc in ring, join with sl st in ch-3. Work all rows in back lps only. ROW 2—Ch 3, dc in same ch-3, 2 dc in each dc around. Join. Famous Sugar 'N Cream Potholders
SUGAR BOWL: With white ch 20 (to be 3 ½ inches long) skip first st on ch, make 1 sc each st (19 sc).
Make 1 sc in each st on other side of ch (19 sc). Continue, working around center.
Taking the back thread of st, make 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each st for 18 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each st for 19 sts; 3 sc in next st (above increase of previous row) 1 sc in each st for 20 sts, 3 sc in next st (above increase of previous row) 1 sc in each st for 1 complete row. With one color ch 31, sk 1 ch, sc in next 30 ch. ROW 2—Ch 1, turn, * sc in next 3 sc, sc down at base of next sc (long sc made), (a long sc over next sc) twice. Repeat from * 4 times. ROW 3—Cut yarn 3" long. Starting 3" from end of next color, draw it thru lp on hook (ch-1 made). Tie 3" ends of 2 colors tog. in a hard double knot. (More)
