Jabot in Knot Stitch Pattern #296

Materials:
Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet, Size 40, White, 2 balls.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 8 or 9.

Under piece: Ch 43, turn. 1st row: D c in 5th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, d c in next (1 sp). Repeat from * along foundation ch. (20 sps). Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: D c in 1st sp, * ch 1, d c in next sp. Repeat from * across. Then ch 4, sl st in each of 3 sts of turning ch. Ch 4, turn. From here on, refer to chart, making increases to go around the two corners as indicated on the chart. At end of 10th row, turn and work 2 s c's in each sp along neck edge of piece. Jabot is worked around this piece.

Jabot: 1st rnd: Make a knot st (draw loop on hook out ¼ inch, draw thread through to make a ch st of it. Put hook between loop and single thread of this ch and make an s c). Make another knot st and s c in 1st sp. * 2 knot sts and s c in next sp. Repeat from * around piece, making the s c's across the neck edge into every other s c below. 2nd rnd: 2 knot sts, s c over double loop of 1st knot st of previous rnd, s c over double loop of next knot st. * 2 knot sts, s c over double loop of next knot st, s c over double loop of next knot st. Repeat from * around. 3rd to 16th rnds incl: Same as 2nd. Fold jabot along neck edge and wear as shown in illustration.
