Lacy Border 6 Pattern

The illustration shows the lace, so you will see that it is suitable for various types of edging such as hankies, guest towels, tray cloths, etc.

BORDER No. 6

MATERIALS.—Ardern's crochet cotton No. 20 (old ticket number) or No. 40 (new ticket number). Tatting shuttle.

This design consists of motifs joined together, with a border added afterwards.

MOTIF.
*Ring.—3 ds., 5 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., close ring, r.w.
Chain.—3 ds., 5 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., r.w.
Repeat from * 4 times more, joining 2nd p. of each ring to 4th p. of previous ring. Tie and cut.

2nd MOTIF.—Work as directed above as far as end of 5th ring, then join as follows :—
Chain.—3 ds., 1 p., 3 ds., join to 2nd p. of chain on first motif, 3 ds., join to 3rd p. on same chain, 3 ds., 2 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds. Tie and cut.
Notice that when all the motifs are joined there will be one scallop between joined scallops along bottom edge and two scallops between them along top edge. Border is worked along top edge.

BORDER.
Ring.—3 ds., 6 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., join to 2nd p. of first chain along top edge, 3 ds., 3 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., close ring, r.w.
*Chain.—3 ds., 5 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., r.w.
Ring.—3 ds., 2 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., join to 5th p. of same chain, 3 ds., join to 1st p. of next chain, 3 ds., 2 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., close ring, r.w.
Chain.—As before.
Ring.—3 ds., 3 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., join to 4th p. of same chain, 3 ds., 2 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., join to 2nd p. of next chain, 3 ds., 3 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., close ring, r.w. Repeat from * to end.
