Chair Set Pattern

This delightful motif illustrated as a chair set lends itself to cheval or dressing sets, trolley mats and hosts of other dainty things.

MATERIALS.—4. balls Ardern's crochet cotton No. 8 (old ticket number) or No. 10 (new ticket number). Tatting shuttle.

MEASUREMENTS.—Chairback 15 ins. x 12 ins., Arm Rests 12 ins. x 7 ins. Motif as illustrated.

MOTIF

CENTER RING.—2 ds., 8 p. sep. by 3 ds., 1 ds., close ring, tie and cut.
Outer Row.
*Ring 1.—3 ds., 5 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., close ring.
Ring 2. —3 ds., join to last p. of ring 1, 3 ds., 2 p. sep, by 3 ds., 3 ds., join to p. of center ring, 3 ds., 3 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., close ring.
Ring 3. —3 ds., join to last p. of previous ring, 3 ds., 4 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., close ring, r.w.
Chain 1.—3 ds., 5 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., r.w.
Ring 4.—3 ds., 1 p„, 3 ds., join to 3rd p. of previous ring, 3 ds., 3 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., close ring, r.w.
Chain 2.—As chain 1.
Repeat from * 3 times more, joining 3rd p. of ring 1 to 4th p. of ring 4, and 4th p. of ring 2 to 3rd, 5th and 7th p. of center ring in turn.
Motifs are joined by joining 3rd and 4th p. of 1st chain and 2nd and 3rd p. of 2nd chain to corresponding picots on previous motif. This leaves a diamond shaped space between each four motifs, which is filled in as follows :—
*Ring.—3 ds., 2 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., close ring, r.w.
Chain.—4 ds., join to 2nd p. on chain of motif, 3 ds., join to 1st p. on next ch. (on next motif), 4 ds., r.w.
Repeat from * 3 times more, joining 1st p. of each ring to last p. of previous ring. Tie and cut.

CHAIRBACK.
Make six rows of motifs with five motifs in each row, after­wards filling in spaces as described.

ARM RESTS.
Make three rows of motifs with five motifs in each row.
