“Star” Mercerized Crochet Cotton, Small Ball, White or Ecru, 10 Balls. Colors 13 balls.
“Star” Mercerized Crochet Cotton, Large Ball, White or Ecru, 5 Balls.
Dk. Cream or Dk. Linen, 6 Balls.
“Gem” Mercerized Crochet Cotton, White, Ecru or Dk. Ecru, 4 Balls.
Steel Crochet Hook #12 or #13.
1 yd.—36 inch linen.
PLATE DOILY. Ch 155 for 50 open meshes, work 1st d c in 8th ch for hook, * ch 2, skip 2 sts, d c in next st, repeat from * to end of row, ch 5, turn and work back and forth according to diagram. Finish with a row of s c.
CENTER DOILY. Ch 353 for 116 open meshes, work one row of open meshes.
2nd to 34th rows work 33 open meshes, next 50 meshes follow chart and work 33 open meshes.
On each end 34 meshes, follow chart up and down beginning with the 2nd row. Ch 144 for center 48 meshes and work basket design working back and forth according to diagram. Finish with a row of s c. Work a row of s c around linen center and sew to filet crochet. Finish edges of linen section of plate doilies with a row of s c, sew filet motif in position and finish luncheon set with the following edge.
Join thread in corner and work 1 s c, ch 3, skip 1 s c, * work 3 d c cluster in next st, ch 4, sl st in cluster for picot, ch 3, skip 3 sts, s c in next st, ch 3, skip 3 sts, repeat from * all around skipping only 1 s c at corners.
