DIRECTIONS

   Materials—J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet Cotton, No. 50, for the filet center and No. 30 for the edge.

   Ch 350 and work 115 sp for the first row. 2d Row—1 sp, 113 bl, 1 sp, ch 5, turn. 3d Row—1 sp, 1 bl, 111 sp, 1 bl, 1 sp, ch 5, turn. The next 8 rows are like the 3d. 12th Row—1 sp, 1 bl, 52 sp, 7 bl, 52 sp, 1 bl, 1 sp, ch 5, turn. Follow pattern on Plate No. 32.

   For the Edge—Use the heavy thread and work a row of sp all around, making 4 tr, separated by 2 ch, in each corner. 2d Row—* 3 s st in 1st sp; in next sp, 1 s st, picot of 3 ch, 1 s st; in next space, 3 s st. Ch 12, turn, 1 sl st in first s st, ch 1, turn, over the 12 ch work, 6 s st, p, 6 s st, p, 6 s st, sl st into tr, and repeat from * all around.
