BACK … Starting at bottom, ch 18 (11 ch sts to 2 inches). 1st row: S c in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: S c in each s c. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row, increasing 1 s c at both ends of every 6th row until there are 27 s c in row—to inc., make 2 s c in 1 s c. Work straight until piece measures 5¼ inches. Now dec. 1 s c at both ends of every other row until 17 s c remain—to dec., work off 2 s c as 1 s c. Fasten off.
FRONT … Ch 101. 1st row: S c in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: * S c in front loop of next s c, s c in back loop of next s c. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row for 1 inch. Inc. 1 st at both ends of next row and every 3rd row until there are 106 s c in row. Work straight until piece measures 3 inches. Fasten off. Attach yarn to 39th s c from beginning of row and work in pattern across next 28 s c. Ch 1, turn. Next row: Skip 2 s c, work over next 22 s c, work off 2 s c as 1 s c twice. Ch 1, turn. Work as for last row until all sts are worked off. Place foundation chain of front against the 3 top edges of back; join by working White s c through the 2 thicknesses. Holding right side toward you, work a row of Green s c along front edge. Fasten off. With right side facing, work White s c in each Green s c. Fasten off.
CORD … Same as cord on No. 2387 (next column).
POMPONS … Using cardboard 1 x 4 inches, place two 6-inch strands across length of cardboard. Wind White around width 100 times. Pick up both ends of 6-inch strands and tie. Slip out cardboard; fasten pompon to hood as in illustration; trim evenly. Run cord in and out lower edge. Trim each end of cord with pompon (wind yarn 200 times around cardboard).

PALM … (Made vertically) Starting at outer edge, with Green ch 41 to measure about 7½ inches. 1st row: S c in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch (this is wrist). Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: * S c in front loop of next s c, s c in back loop of next s c. Repeat from * across, making 2 s c in last s c (this is fingertip). 3rd row: 2 s c in 1st s c, s c in next s c, * s c in front loop of next s c, s c in back loop of next s c. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 4th, 5th and 6th rows: Repeat 2nd, 3rd and 2nd rows, but inc. at fingertip on 4th row only (43 s c). Ch 1, turn. 7th row: Work across 1st 33 s c, sl st in next s c. JOINING … Lay one piece over other so that back and palm correspond. Join pieces with a row of White s c through both thicknesses, around sides of hand and around fingers. Join thumb in same way.
CUFF … With double-pointed needles and Green, pick up 46 sts around wrist and work 1 inch in rnds of k 1, p 1 ribbing. Break off. Work 1 inch in White; then 1 inch in Green. Bind off.
RIGHT HAND … Work to correspond with left hand.
POMPONS … Make 2 pompons as for hood, and attach one to back of each mitten.

1st row: * S c in front loop of next s c, s c in back loop of next s c. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat this row for 6½ inches. Fasten off. Attach White at opposite end and work other border.
POMPONS … Make 3 pompons as for hood. Attach a pompon to each corner of one end of scarf, and one at center of other end.
