Materials  Required—AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "DAWN" INFANT'S WOOL, ARTICLE W5, or  "DAWN" WORSTED FLOSS, ARTICLE W16
  3—1 oz. Balls  White, or any Color desired. 
  6 Buttons. 
  Bone Crochet Hook  No. 3 or No. 4. 
Directions are given for "DAWN" Infants Wool, if using "DAWN" Worsted Floss, ch 77 and work 2 less rows for Collar, 1 less s c for each side of front, 3 less s c at each side of center of back section.
Collar. Ch 85 about 13  inches long without stretching ch. Work 84 s c on ch, ch 1 to turn each row,  work 14 more rows of s c even. Do not break yarn. 
  16th Row. Start Right Front,  1 s c in each of the 1st 18 s c, ch 1 to turn. 
  17th Row. 2 s c in 1st s c,  1 s c in each remaining s c. 
  18th Row. 1 s c in each s c.  Repeat 17th and 18th rows 34 times. 
  Repeat 18th row  until work measures about 15½ inches from beginning, break yarn.
  Left Front. With right side of  work toward you, attach yarn in 18th s c from opposite side of collar, leaving  48 free s c between the 2 fronts. Work 1 s c in each of the 18 s c, ch 1, turn. 
  2nd Row. 1 s c in each s c, increasing  1 s c in last s c. 
  3rd Row. 1 s c in each s c.  Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows 34 times. Finish in same manner as right front, break  yarn. 
  Back Section. With right side of  work toward you, join yarn in 1st free s c between fronts, ch 1, 1 s c in next  s c, 1 s c in each of the next 22 s c, 3 s c in next s c (center back) 1 s c in  each of the next 23 s c, ch 1, turn. 
  2nd Row. Decrease 1 s c at  the beginning and end of row, working 1 s c in each remaining s c. 
  3rd Row. Decrease 1 s c at  the beginning of row, 1 s c in each s c to center back, 3 s c in center s c of  back, 1 s c in each remaining s c, decreasing 1 s c at end of row. Repeat 2nd  and 3rd rows 6 times, then work 3 or 4 more rows the same as 2nd row. Without  breaking yarn and working around the entire dickey work 1 s c in each row and  1 s c in each s c working 2 s c in each corner st. 
Next round. Ch 2, skip 1 s c,  s c in next s c, continue all the way around in same manner working button  holes in right front as follows: ** ch 4, skip 3 s c, s c in next s c, * ch 2,  skip 1 s c, s c in next s c, repeat from * 5 times, then repeat from ** 5  times. Sew buttons in position.
