Materials Required—AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "PURITAN" MERCERIZED CROCHET AND KNITTING COTTON, ARTICLE 40
4—300 yd. Balls Cream.
"STAR" Six Strand Mercerized Embroidery Cotton, Article 50.
1 Skein each of Red, Blue, Yellow and Orange.
3 Skeins of Black and 2 Skeins of Green.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

Starting at Waist. With Cream, ch 140, 1 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 5, turn.
2nd Row. D c in same space, ch 2, s c in next s c, * ch 2, skip 1 s c, 2 d c with ch 2 between in next s c, ch 2, skip 1 s c, s c in next s c, ch 2, 2 d c with ch 2 between in next s c, ch 2, s c in next s c, repeat from * across row omitting the last ch 2 and the s c in next s c at end of row, ch 4, turn.
3rd Row. D c in same space, ch 2, d c in next d c, * ch 1, d c in next d c, ch 2, 2 d c with ch 2 between in next ch 2 loop, ch 2, d c in next d c, repeat from * across row ending row with ch 1, d c in next d c, ch 2, 2 d c with ch 2 between in end ch 4 loop, ch 1, turn.
4th Row. S c in next loop, ch 3, skip next loop, 2 tr c, ch 2, 2 tr c (shell) in ch of next ch 1 loop, ch 3, skip 1 loop, repeat from beginning across row ending row with s c in next loop, ch 4, turn.
5th Row. D c in s c, * ch 1, d c in 1st tr c of next shell, ch 2, 2 d c with ch 2 between in center loop of same shell, ch 2, skip 1 tr c of same shell, d c in next tr c, repeat from * across row ending row with ch 1, d c in last s c, ch 5, turn.
6th Row. 2 tr c in next ch 1 loop, * ch 3, skip 1 loop, s c in next loop, ch 3, skip 1 loop, shell in ch of next ch 1 loop, repeat from * across row ending row with ch 3, skip 1 loop, s c in next loop, ch 3, skip 1 loop, 2 tr c, ch 2, 1 tr c in next ch 1 loop, 1 tr c in end ch, ch 4, turn.
7th Row. 2 d c with ch 2 between in center loop of same shell, ch 2, skip 1 tr c of same shell, d c in next tr c, ch 1, d c in 1st tr c of next shell, ch 2, repeat from beginning across row ending row with 2 d c with ch 2 between in 1st st of end ch, ch 1, turn.
8th Row. Same as 4th row but sl st in end loop.
Repeat the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th rows until work measures 12 inches from beginning.
Next Row. 3 s c in next loop, 1 s c, 1 s d c in next loop (s d c: thread over needle, insert in space, pull through and work off all loops at one time), s d c in ch of next ch 1 loop, 1 s d c, 1 s c in next loop, repeat from beginning across row ending row with 3 s c in next loop, 1 s c, 1 s d c in last loop, ch 1, turn.
Next Row. 1 s c in each st, ch 1, turn.
Repeat the last row 27 times, ch 4, turn.
Next Row. D c in same space, * ch 2, skip 2 s c, d c in next s c, ch 1, skip 1 s c, d c in next s c, ch 2, skip 2 s c, 2 d c with ch 2 between in next s c, repeat from * across row ending row with ch 1, turn.
Repeat the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th rows twice, break thread.
Work a row of s c down side of apron, across lower edge, up opposite side and across top, ch 1, turn and work back and forth across top of apron only for 10 more rows, break thread.
Tie. Ch 8, 1 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row. 1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn.
Repeat 2nd row until tie measures 15 inches, break thread. Work another tie in same manner, sew to each side of waist band as illustrated.
Embroider solid band according to diagram repeating pattern 4 times working designs 7 sts apart.
Embroider some aprons in yellow and some in orange as desired.
