Materials Required—AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "STAR" MERCERIZED TATTING COTTON, ARTICLE 25
3—60 yd. Balls White or any Color desired.
5 inch square of Handkerchief Linen.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 12 or No. 13.

Hem linen to measure about 4½ inches square. Join thread in center of one side and working over hem, work 70 s c on each side and 3 s c in each corner.
1st Row. * Draw up ¼ inch loop on hook, thread over and pull through ch, s c in single loop of st. (Single knot st), skip 2 s c, s c in next s c, repeat from * to center s c at corner, single knot st, s c in same st, continue sides and corners all around in same manner working all corners same as 1st corner.
2nd Row. * Single knot st, s c in single loop of next single knot st, repeat from * to corner, single knot st, s c in same st, continue sides and corners all around in same manner.
3rd and 4th Rows. Repeat 2nd row.
5th Row. Single knot st, * s c in loop of next single knot st, ch 3, repeat from * to corner, ch 3, s c in same loop, continue all around in same manner working all corners same as 1st corner, join.
6th Row. * Ch 5, sl st in 4th st from hook for picot, ch 5, sl st in 4th st from hook for picot, ch 1, s c in next s c, repeat from * to corner, ch 5, sl st in 4th st from hook for picot, ch 5, sl st in the 4th st from hook for picot, ch 1, s c in corner loop and continue all around in same manner, working all corners same as 1st corner.
7th Row. Sl st to center of loop, * ch 5, sl st in 4th st from hook for picot, ch 5, sl st in 4th st from hook for picot, ch 1, s c between picots of next loop, repeat from * all around.
8th Row. Sl st to center of loop, * ch 6, d c between picots of next loop, repeat from * to corner, 2 d c with ch 3 between in corner loop, continue all around, break thread.
9th Row. * Single knot st, s c in next s c, repeat from * to corner, single knot st, s c in corner loop, single knot st, s c in same loop, single knot st, s c in next d c, continue all around working corners in same manner.
10th, 11th and 12th Rows. Same as 2nd row.
13th Row. Same as 5th row.
14th Row. Ch 2, * 6 d c with ch 1 between each d c in next ch 3 loop, ch 2, s c in next ch 3 loop, ch 2, repeat from * all around.
15th Row. ** Ch 3, * d c in ch 1 between next 2 d c, ch 3, sl st in top of d c for picot, ch 1, repeat from * 4 times, ch 3, s c in next s c, repeat from ** all around, break thread.
