Each motif measures 2 3/4 inches square.
Afghan measures 44 x 66 inches;
Pillow 14 inches square.

Art. E. 232: 15 skeins (1-oz. "Tangle-Proof" Pull=Out Skeins) of No. 676 Emerald; 26 skeins of No. 12 Black and 17 skeins of No. 1 White for both Afghan and Pillow.
Plastic Crochet Hook No. 5.
A pillow 14 inches square.

MOTIF (Make 384) . . . Starting at center with Black, ch 2.

1st rnd: 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc. Break off.

2nd rnd: Attach Emerald to same place as sl st, ch 3, dc in same place, 2 dc in next sc, * ch 3, 2 dc in next 2 sc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.

3rd rnd: Attach White to same place as sl st, sc in same place, sc in back loop of next 3 dc, * dc over ch 3 into Black sc where last dc of this group was made, ch 3, dc in next Black sc, sc in back loop of next 4 dc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.

4th rnd: Attach Black to any corner sp, in same sp make 2 sc, dc and 2 sc; sc in back loop of each st around, making corners as before. Join and break off.

With wrong sides facing, sew motifs neatly together, picking up back loops only and making 16 rows of 24 motifs. Block to measurements.

BORDER . . . 1st rnd: Attach Black to any corner, ch 3, 2 dc in same place, dc closely around, making 3 dc in each corner. Join and turn.

2nd rnd: Sl st in each dc around. Join and break off.

PILLOW--Side (Make 2) . . . Make 5 rows of 5 motifs and sew together. With wrong sides facing, sew pieces together around 3 sides, insert pillow and sew remaining side.
