MATERIALS REQUIRED. American Thread Company “Clover Leaf” or “Dawn” Shetland Floss.
2 Balls Buff
1 Ball Lt. Copper or any Contrasting Color
Steel Crochet Hook #2
Gauge: 7 sts—1 inch, 8 rows—1 inch.
LEFT GLOVE. Ch 44, join (ch rather loose, about 8 inches.) Work 8 rows of s c, (about 1 inch). Next Row. 3 s c in next st (this starts the thumb) 1 s c in each remaining s c. Work 1 row even. Next Row. Work 3 s c in s c over center s c of last increasing point. Increase in same place every 3rd round 4 times. Work to 8th s c from center st of increasing point, ch 7, skip 16 s c, s c in next s c, 1 s c in each s c and 1 s c in each ch (47 sts). Work 15 rows even.
FIRST FINGER. Fold glove so opening is at left of palm. Work 7 s c on back of glove, ch 2, counting back skip 12 s c and s c in next s c, 1 s c in each s c and 1 s c in each ch (16 s c). Work 16 more rows of s c. Next Row decrease 3 sts and work 2 rows even. Decrease every 5th st until 9 sts remain, draw these together with a needle.
SECOND FINGER. Join thread to last st in back of first finger work 6 s c on back of glove, ch 2, s c in 6th free s c on palm of glove, 1 s c in each s c including last s c of first finger, 1 s c in each s c between fingers (18 s c). Work 17 more rows and finish same as first finger.
THIRD FINGER. Same as 1st finger.
LITTLE FINGER. 10 rows of s c and finish finger.
THUMB. 5 rows of s c. 6th Row. Decrease 2 sts inside of thumb and work 2 rows even. 9th Row. Decrease one st inside of thumb and work 8 rows even. Decrease 2 sts and work 1 row even. Decrease every 6th st until 9 remain and finish same as fingers.
CUFF. Fold glove flat and with the back of glove toward you join Buff in 3rd st from right hand edge, work 1 d c in each st omitting the last 5 sts, ch 3, turn and work 2 more rows of d c. Work 3 rows in Lt. Copper and 3 rows in Buff. Attach Lt. Copper in 1st row, work 1 d c in each of the 1st 2 d c, 3 d c in next d c, 1 d c in last 2 d c, sl st into Buff, ch 3, sl st into 2nd row of Buff and work d c increasing 2 sts in center st. Continue rows of d c in Lt. Copper increasing in each center st. Finish cuff with 1 row of s c. Work a band to fit wrist, 1 row of Buff, 1 row of Lt Copper, 1 row Buff. Fasten with snappers or small buckles. With Buff work three rows of running sts for trimming beginning the center stripe about ½ inch down between 2nd and 3rd fingers. Begin other 2 stripes 2 rows down slanting each toward the center. With Lt. Copper pick up each running st, this gives a twisted cord effect. Work other glove to correspond, reversing the position of the thumb.
